I bought a little Bible since I'd hardly stopped
And it was in Paris France somehow by chance that I took the Bible out
And as I flipped the pages I saw these words and I knew what it was all about

Then I took the little Holy Book held it close and tight
I closed my eyes and visualized the glory of that night
So suddenly it came to me for when I awoke on Christmas Day
I felt the Christmas spirit down deep inside to stay

Sur chaque visage, à chaque endroit, il y avait de la hâte, je suis en retard
Mais un vieil homme gentil à un stand de marrons a dit "Joyeux Noël, mon ami"
Et j'ai senti l'esprit de Noël.

Dans une petite ville nichée dans les Alpes bavaroises, en Allemagne
J'ai marché pour voir ce que l'ambiance serait
Et encore une fois, il y avait le bruit, la hâte, les cris
Mais un garçon gentil a dit "Frohliche Weihnachten"
Ne comprenant pas les mots, mais obtenant l'achat et la vente
J'ai senti l'esprit de Noël.
A Bethléem, j'ai entendu un hymne que chantait un choeur lointain
Et avec d'autres touristes, j'ai marché vers une église dont les cloches sonnaient
Puis j'ai entendu quelqu'un dire à quelqu'un d'autre : "C'est là que le Christ est né"
Je me demande s'il ressemblait à notre bébé à ce premier matin
Et puis j'ai vraiment senti l'esprit de Noël.
D'un homme d'affaires en Terre Sainte, dans une boutique de souvenirs sur le trottoir
J'ai acheté une petite Bible, car je n'avais pas vraiment arrêté
Et c'était à Paris, en France, d'une manière ou d'une autre, par hasard, que j'ai sorti la Bible
Et en feuilletant les pages, j'ai vu ces mots, et j'ai compris de quoi il s'agissait
Car j'ai lu "N'ayez pas peur, car voici, je vous apporte de bonnes nouvelles de grande joie"
Qui seront pour tous les peuples

Puis j'ai pris le petit livre sacré, l'ai serré contre moi
J'ai fermé les yeux et j'ai visualisé la gloire de cette nuit
