Is an expression of catharsis
And a piece of music that is so, so boundless
And so much of an epiphany in sound
That bringing it to solo piano
I wanted to find a way to connect to that emotion
But in a way that is quiet and intimate and introspective
The same emotion, but something that you can play
Meditate to, you can pray to it, you can live with it
You can sit in this space
And it can bring you that same healing
And that same sense of inner epiphany
Ode to Joyful, with many different renditions
And interpolations over the years
Including by Lauryn Hill of The Fugees
