I was born in the countryside, in this ragged Rio Grande
A handsome gaucho, from the old gaucho tradition
A Charrua bull, molded in the rough life
And what I like is fandango, truco, and horse racing
All I have of value is a sirigote
Strong rope that holds the plow firmly
A good horse, and to discipline the young bucks
A pair of Chilean spurs fastened to my boots
I'm one of those bulls baptized in the brazier
Being a gaucho is the trade I carry
I don't deny my gaucho tradition

I regulate my stride with pure cachaça
Like a cacique, I go out shaking my bones
I only leave the dance hall after the party ends
With some girl hanging around my neck
If some young buck gets jealous and starts trouble
