I think once I took my first Vicodin, it was just like, this feeling of "Ah"

Had I had gotten to the hospital about two hours later, I would've died
My organs were shutting down, my liver, kidneys, everything
They were gonna have to put me on dialysis, they didn't think I was gonna make it
My bottom was gonna be death, within a month, I had relapsed
And shot right back up to the same amount of pills that I was taking
I remember just walking around my house and thinking every single day, like, "I'm gonna fucking die", like, I'm-I'm looking at my kids, and I need to be here for this

Coming off of everything, I literally was up 24 hours a day for three weeks straight
And I mean not sleeping, not even nodding off for a fucking minute
Like, I was literally just up, like, looking at the TV
I had to regain motor skills, I had to regain talking skills
It's been a-a learning process, like, it's been, I'm growing
I just couldn't believe that anybody could ever be naturally happy, or naturally function, or be just enjoying life in general, without being on something
So, I would say that t-to anybody that i-it does get better, you know? It just– it does

Ich spritze mir ja kein Heroin, ich zieh mir keinen verdammten Koks durch die Nase, weißt du, ich rauche kein Crack
Man ringt mit dem Argument: „Habe ich ein Problem oder habe ich kein Problem? Kann ich es kontrollieren oder nicht?“
Und ich dachte wirklich, ich könnte es kontrollieren

Wäre ich etwa zwei Stunden später ins Krankenhaus gekommen, wäre ich gestorben
Meine Organe versagten, meine Leber, Nieren, einfach alles
Sie hätten mich an die Dialyse anschließen müssen, sie dachten nicht, dass ich es schaffen würde
Mein Tiefpunkt wäre der Tod gewesen. Innerhalb eines Monats wurde ich rückfällig
Und war sofort wieder bei der gleichen Menge Pillen, die ich vorher genommen hatte
Ich erinnere mich, wie ich nur durch mein Haus lief und jeden einzelnen Tag dachte, so nach dem Motto: „Ich werde verdammt nochmal sterben“, und, Mann, ich sehe meine Kinder an und ich muss doch für sie da sein

Beim Entzug von dem ganzen Zeug war ich wirklich drei Wochen am Stück 24 Stunden am Tag wach
Und ich meine, kein Schlaf, nicht mal für eine verdammte Minute eingenickt
Ich war einfach wirklich nur wach, starrte auf den Fernseher
Ich musste meine motorischen Fähigkeiten wieder lernen, ich musste das Sprechen wieder lernen
Es war ein – ein Lernprozess, weißt du, es war so, ich wachse daran
Ich konnte einfach nicht glauben, dass irgendjemand von Natur aus glücklich sein oder normal funktionieren oder einfach das Leben genießen kann, ohne auf irgendwas drauf zu sein
Also, ich würde jedem sagen wollen, d-dass es – es wird besser, weißt du? Es wird einfach – es wird besser.
