Der Wecker schrillt, die Nacht vergeht

Morgens kann ich noch nichts sehen
Ich werd's eben nie verstehen
Dass ich jetzt schon aufsteh'n sollte

Hör' doch auf, es ist ein Graus
Lieber bleibe ich zu Haus
Darf ich also nicht mehr schlafen
Muss man mich denn so bestrafen
Wenn doch nur schon Sonntag wär'!

Nun hilft mir nur ein Schluck Kaffee
Damit ich's wieder klarer seh'
In meinem schönen warmen Bett
War es gemütlich und so nett

Nun muss es sein, es ruft die Pflicht
Früh aufsteh'n, nein - gern tu ich's nicht
Ich trinke meine Tasse leer
Ein Morgenmuffel hat es schwer!

The Grumpy Morning Person

The alarm clock shrieks, the night is gone
A sign that time does not stand still
Now I have to get out of bed
Every day, this is a horror for me!

So early in the morning out of bed
No, no, I don't find that nice at all!
I pull the covers over me
And don't hear the evil alarm clock

"Morning hour has gold in its mouth"
A poet once proclaimed
In the morning, I can't see anything yet
I will never understand it
That I should get up now

Stop it, it's awful
I'd rather stay home
Can't I sleep any more

Now only a sip of coffee will help me
So that I can see more clearly again
In my beautiful, warm bed
It was cozy and so nice
