Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep
And doesn't know where to find them
Leave them alone, and they'll come home
Wagging their tails behind them

Then up she took her little group
Determined for to find them
She found them indeed, it made her heart bleed
For they'd left their tails behind them

It happened one day, as Bo Peep did stray
Into a meadow hard by
There she espied their tails, side by side
All hung on a tree to dry

She heaved a sigh and wiped her eye
And over the hillocks went rambling
And tried what she could
As a shepherdess should
To tack each again to its lambkin

La petite Bo-Peep a perdu ses moutons,
Et ne sait où les trouver.
Laissez-les tranquilles, et ils reviendront,
Remuant la queue derrière eux.

Alors elle prit son petit troupeau,
Déterminée à les retrouver.
Elle les trouva en effet, et son cœur saigna,
Car ils avaient laissé leurs queues derrière eux.

Il arriva un jour, que Bo-Peep s'égara
Dans un pré tout proche.
Là, elle aperçut leurs queues, côte à côte,
Toutes accrochées à un arbre pour sécher.

Elle poussa un soupir et s'essuya les yeux,
Et par-dessus les collines elle erra,
Et essaya tout ce qu'elle put,
Comme une bergère le devrait,
Pour rattacher chaque queue à son agneau.
