Ich hätte nie gedacht, daß ich die alten Strassen
Meiner Kinderfilme nochmal wiederseh,

Ich weiss nicht, was mich an dem Jungen interessierte,
Den ich dort in dem offnen Schultor stehen sah,
Was mich so augenblicklich an ihm faszinierte,
Er war ein Junge und er war ganz einfach da,

Der Junge war dick,
Der Junge war nett,
Vielleicht etwas wabblig,
Aber nicht fett,
Er stand in der Einfahrt,
Ein einsamer Held,
So traumverloren
In ner eigenen Welt,

Der Junge war still,
Aber sicher nicht faul,
So n richtiges Geheimnis,
Mit ner Schrippe im Maul
Und als ich vorbei will,
Da schaut er mich an
Und ich hör ihn singen,
Denn der Junge, der sang:

Mal den Himmel an,
Häng ne Wolke ran,
Pflanz dir nen Rasen in Grün,
Leg dich im Traum
Unter nen Baum
Und gib dich den Bildern hin,

Schick ne Sonne hinauf,
Nimm ne Wolke in kauf
Und dann warte auf einen Stern,
Findet doch jemand her
Fahr mit ihm übers Meer,
Dann hat dich die Welt wieder gern.

Er hatte Ähnlichkeit, mit einem, den ich kannte,
Hiess er nicht Jochen oder Meyer oder Koch,
Da war mein Schulhof und da stand die grüne Bank
Und plötzlich kam ein altes Foto in mir hoch,

Es ist doch längst vorbei,
Es ist doch längst gegessen,
Der ganze Kinderbrei,
Der macht mir nichts mehr aus
Und doch seit jenem Tag,
Ich kann ihn nicht vergessen,
Denn sein Gesicht will einfach
Nicht mehr aus mir raus,

Der Junge war dick,
Der Junge war nett,
Vielleicht etwas wabblig,
Aber nicht fett,
Sie nannten ihn Blümchen,
Er sah alles grün,
Er hatte nur Filme
Und Geschichten im Sinn,

Der Junge war still,
Aber nicht faul,
So n echtes Geheimnis,
Mit ner Schrippe im Maul
Und in unserm Schulhof,
Da gabs eine Bank,
Da sah man ihn sitzen,
Denn der Junge der sang:

The Fat Boy

I never thought I'd see the old streets again,
The ones from my childhood movies,
Where we used to sit on the stairs in the morning,
And where students still go to school today,

I don't know what interested me about the boy,
That I saw standing in the open school gate,
What fascinated me about him so instantly,
He was a boy and he was simply there,

The boy was fat,
The boy was nice,
Maybe a little wobbly,
But not obese,
He stood in the driveway,
A lonely hero,
So dreamily lost
In his own world,

The boy was quiet,
But certainly not lazy,
A real mystery,
With a roll in his mouth,
And as I pass by,
He looks at me
And I hear him sing,
Because the boy, he sang:

Paint the sky,
Hang a cloud,
Plant yourself a green lawn,
Lie down in a dream
Under a tree
And give yourself to the images,

Send a sun up,
Take a cloud into account,
And then wait for a star,
Find someone,
Travel with him across the sea,
Then the world will love you again.

He resembled someone I knew,
Wasn't his name Jochen or Meyer or Koch,
There was my schoolyard and there was the green bench
And suddenly an old photo came up in me,

It's long gone,
It's long eaten,
All the baby food,
It doesn't bother me anymore
And yet since that day,
I can't forget him,
Because his face just
Doesn't want to leave me,

The boy was fat,
The boy was nice,
Maybe a little wobbly,
But not obese,
They called him Blümchen (Little Flower),
He saw everything green,
He only had movies
And stories in mind,

The boy was quiet,
But not lazy,
A real mystery,
