Hay un circuito de rock importante
Este, donde hay un montón de bolichitos donde podías tocar
Eso si nos sacaba el sueño, ¿no?
Era en Buenos Aires ya hace rato era, hacía rato era la meca del rock en Sudamérica

Pero estuvo buena la historia de ir haciendo la de abajo en Buenos Aires como una banda más de allá
Llegar de paracaidistas, como también alguna vez se la prometían
No, no, en Buenos Aires hay que aplicar te quemas si arrancas con toques chicos
Tenés que arrancar ya en un toque para un buen teatro, un Gran Rex
Me acuerdo de un empresario que no lo quiero nombrar que todavía sigue
La escuchó, dalo por hecho ya
Este, ustedes arrancan en un Gran Rex y porque si no te quemas
Pero obviamente eso nunca llego esas palabras que quedaron en el viento, este
Mandamos una avanzada con El Cebolla, nuestro, nuestro rey de la avanzada y con algún amigo más

Un paso previo fue que fuimos con chancho
Este, nos fuimos mano a mano él y yo con unas carpetas
Nos habíamos armado una carpeta con el currículum de la banda y nos fuimos a un montón de lugares
Este, a presentarnos como banda
Un poco viendo como eran los lugares
Y viendo las posibilidades reales que teníamos a tocar en Buenos Aires
Más allá del querer había una gran barrera
Que es que no te conocía ni Peteco, eras una banda del under

Ahí fue que el Androide, un amigo, tenía un amigo
Que tenía un boliche que donde tocaban bandas, ¿no?
Que se llamaba, se llama, El Salón Paredón
Entonces ahí fuimos en comitiva algunos a buscar una fecha

Y este, y resulta que entramos al lugar
Y de repente viene un pibe, un pánico, una cadena, una cresta
Este, viene diciendo: "ustedes son de La Vela Puerca, boludo"
Si, no, no, queremos, andamos viendo si podemos conseguir una fecha acá no sé cuánto
Yo conocí al Enano, en una estación de servicio, chavón
Y era el Batra, terminó siendo el Batra nuestro gran amigo y referente hermano de la vecina orilla

La verdad que fue mágico, esa historia mágico encontrarme con el Batra, ahí
Y la verdad que nos dijeron: "si la fecha cuando, dale, esta fecha acá"

Y bueno, los invitan a tocar
Nos daban la plata de las entradas
Nosotros pusimos la plata en el pasaje, esperando recuperar algo
Y nos quedamos a dormir en el boliche no sabemos ni con que nos íbamos a encontrar
Y nos encontramos con una casa punki de dos o tres pisos
Boliche totalmente punk
De verdad

Sí en el escenario no había luces
Y tenía una parte 38 puesta en todas las columnas así, y le dije
"Oh, escúchame, muy punky" todo eso estuvo bueno, la respuesta, eso me encanta
Ya mis amigos para toda la vida también gente que, el vínculo continúa hasta hoy
Vos, yo vine hasta acá no sé qué, ¿no tenés luces?
Yo puedo, ¿me prestas un taladro y me invento algo?
Claro hace lo que quieras, toma
Me dieron las herramientas, yo me pasé toda la tarde laburando
Llevando la luz hasta el escenario
Y puse por lo menos una pequeña, una poquita luz ahí pa' hacer algo, pa' divertirme

Para nosotros este, bueno, era por primera vez salir de, del Uruguay siempre
No queríamos caer con el globo mediático
Queríamos tener un suelo creíble
Queríamos que lo que tuviéramos nosotros lo hubiéramos ganado
Se lo hubieran ganado las canciones

Entonces la historia fue que, fuimos con los tambores con todo
Pensando de nuevo en volantear
En hacer renacer nuestros, nuestros pequeños desfiles antes de tocar

Lo hacíamos acá cuando íbamos a los pueblos, en Buenos Aires era otra cosa
Ir hasta una plaza ahí, no tenía mucho que ver
Pero nosotros lo hacemos igual porque ya era como parte de la tradición
Salí con una bandera y unos tambores a repartir volantes, todo pintado, nos gustaba

Y no se me ocurre mejor idea que ir a Plaza Francia a las diez de la noche, con los tambores
Y con los volantes pegados en nuestras moles
Lógicamente, llegamos y no había ni los pájaros, no había nadie

El primer recital fueron un montón de gente, conocidas, amigos
Un par de curiosos y gente asidua al boliche
Y bueno, fue la primera vez de tocar y dormir al lado
Dormir al lado del equipo de bajo, no había cama para todos

Seis de nosotros dormimos en filita
Con los sobres de dormir arriba del escenario después de tocar
Con el olor a birra y el olor a pucho

Este bueno ahí empezamos a hacer, hacer, este a tocar en bares
El camino hormiga, hacíamos ahí, dormía, este
Después de a poquito fuimos a otros lugares Cátulo Castillo, al Marquí

Eran toques muy a pulmón, con entrada más que barata
El Teatro del Plata, los peores calores que pasé en mi vida
Un lugar chico cerca de, sobre la 9 de julio
Me acuerdo que llegamos tarde porque vivíamos juntos
Y nos quedamos dormidos, esa fue la primera vez que perdimos el barco de muchos

Y recuerdo estar con Rafa afuera parado
Y vemos que se empieza a arrimar la gente
Oh, va a venir gente, bueno, mira, no sé
Y le digo a Rafa, vamos a darle una vuelta manzana, una vuelta por Buenos Aires
Este muchacho del pueblo y nosotros de Montevideo, queriendo conocer un poco la ciudad grande
Este, y cuando terminamos, damos la vuelta manzana
Volvimos y había como 250 personas más
Realmente nos impresiona, mira la gente que vino
Claro, eran todos conciertos en lugares chiquitos, de mucho calor, este, y poca gente

Antes de los recitales nosotros salíamos para afuera y nos quedábamos hablando con la gente
Agradeciéndole que vinieran, contándole un poco que la historia y se juntaba gente afuera
Eso generaba un poco de curiosidad por el que pasaba por la calle
El boliche adentro estaba vacío, pero afuera estábamos todos nosotros este
Y bueno, y en un momento dado decíamos bueno, vamos a tocar, vamos a entrar

Me acuerdo de una, que no sé si fue la Colorada o no me acuerdo dónde fue
Que quedaron en Buenos Aires hay una dinámica, mucho de que
Toca una banda y después toca otra banda con otro público
Y estábamos con me acuerdo con Santi y con Rafa
Estaba tocando una banda, estaba el lugar lleno
Y después tocábamos nosotros
Y termina de tocar la banda y vemos que la gente se va
Y digo, ¿a dónde va toda esta gente?

Entonces me subo a una escalera hacia la puerta
Y trato de pararlos, como diciendo, ¿a dónde van?, tocamos nosotros ahora
Y nada pasaban de mí, pasaron por alado, se iban, se iban, y claro
Y yo camino para afuera y estaba lleno también
Y ahí, me, ahí, me, ahí sí digo: "claro"
Esta gente vino a ver la banda que tocó recién

La hicimos abajo y estuvo buenísimo porque eso lo reconoce la gente
Y le decimos boliche, boliche, bares y bares, salas y salas después
Descubrimos un mundo nuevo y entramos a, a crecer
Y así fue, hasta, hasta llegar a nuestro primer sueño de Buenos Aires, que fue Cemento

La primera vez que sentí que entré a una sala de shows en un bar con escenario fue en Cemento
La verdad que un lugar, este, muy bizarro, muy raro, era como una cosa así
Pero fue la primera vez que entramos a un lugar hecho para conciertos
Lo sentí cuando entré y esas paredes altas
Todas, todas tapadas de graffiti que no quedaban ni un espacio para poner nada
Y había un gran cubo con una barra gigante en la pared
Que cuando la pasabas, otro gran cubo con el escenario en el fondo
Y ahí quedé, quedé helado
Y bueno, obviamente que el primer día que llegamos
Con nuestros equipos a armar nosotros el show

Me acuerdo que fue como entrar a un lugar todo grafiteado
Todo de cemento, todo de cemento, los camerinos, un olor a rock
Olor a mezcla de birra con vómito, yo qué sé

Era la gloria de cualquier banda
Tocaron Los Redondos sacando lo sumo
Las paredes eran el rock, era así

Me acuerdo que a mí me había gustado mucho todo también y que
Creíamos que iba a salir muy bien
Y media hora antes del show, media hora antes del show
Cae el primo hermano del enano
Nos venía acompañando a todos lados
Llega de Montevideo, llega media hora antes
Se abrazan de emoción y dicen
"Vamos pa' el bar de la esquina a tomar una antes de subir, dale vamos"

Me acuerdo que fue mi primo el Boca, cayó con un mezcal
Estuvimos tomando el mezcal
Estábamos así como celebración sacó el gusano
Partimos el gusano la mitad y nos comimos medio cada uno

Llegaba la hora del show, el Enano no venía
Y ahí llegan, entra con el primo, totalmente borrachos
Ritual, ritual, ritual, Paca
Mordió el gusano a la mitad, se comió y me metió la otra a mí
Este, y de ahí salí, con medio gusano en la cabeza, ja, ja, ja

Estuvo buenísimo la emoción, fue, que no lo aceptaba
Este, contra el pecho, emocionado, pero con un pedo que no, increíble

La Vela llegó a tocar en Cemento
De ahí hasta te podías morir que, que tenías ya una buena historia para contar
Este, pero considero que hemos abierto como, como una puerta
Así fue como, medio punta de lanza, venir y
Pero realmente fue por decisión nuestra y por ser descarados

They gave us the money from the tickets

The first concert was a lot of people, acquaintances, friends
A couple of onlookers and regulars at the club
And well, it was the first time to play and sleep next door
Sleep next to the bass equipment, there wasn't a bed for everyone

Six of us sleep in a row
With the sleeping bags on top of the stage after playing
With the smell of beer and the smell of cigarettes

We did it from the bottom up and it was great because people recognize that
