Aquella habría sido una tranquila mañana de otoño en el bosque
Una mañana de otoño común y corriente

Si no fuera que ya eran las cuatro de la tarde
Y estaban en verano

Todos los animales habían sido citados
Por la Princesa Teresa, en un claro del bosque
Para averiguar cuál de ellos era su prometido
El Duque Sigfrido el Erguido

El duque había sido hechizado por la Bruja Granuja
Que, no solo lo había transformado en algún animal del bosque
Sino que, además, le había quitado la memoria

El Pajarillo Amarillo cantaba alegremente

El pajarillo decía
"Solo el amor de la Princesa
Puede devolver la forma humana al Duque"

En ese momento, se presentó el Jabalí Alí

El jabalí preguntó: "¿Por lo de la Princesa es aquí?"
"Sí", dijo el pajarillo
"¡Nos han citado a todos!
A propósito, ahí viene arrastrándose el Molusco Pardusco"

El molusco preguntó
"He perdido mi caparazón, ¿no lo vieron?"
En ese momento, apareció volando

La Mariposa Golosa

"¡Socorro!", se quejaba la mariposa
"¡Me persigue el Oso Libidinoso!"
Y apareció corriendo tras ella, el Oso Libidinoso

El oso perseguía a la mariposa ofreciéndole una margarita
Y recitándole un poema que decía
"Sublime éxtasis de amor, mariposa, que acelera mis latidos
Vayamos, vayamos, vayamos, vayamos, vayamos pronto"
El molusco se interpuso
El oso bramó: "¿Y tú qué quieres, despreciable molusco?"
"¿No vio mi caparazón?"

El instante fue aprovechado por la mariposa
Quien se escondió ayudada por el Pajarillo Amarillo

Hacía ya tres lunas que la bruja había hechizado al duque
La hermosa Princesa Teresa deambulaba en su búsqueda
Lamentándose de su suerte
La acompañaban, en silencio, sus fieles Gansos Mansos

El pajarillo anunció: "¡Ya llega la Princesa! ¡Qué triste está!"
Y apareció la Princesa

Entonces, apareció la Bruja Granuja
La bruja se burlaba
"¡Nunca sabrás en qué animal he convertido al duque!
¡Ni siquiera él recuerda nada, ja-ja-ja!"
La Princesa clamaba
"¿Dónde estás, Sigfrido? ¡Sigfrido!
¿Qué clase de animal eres?"

Los gansos consolaban a la Princesa
"¡Tranquilízate!", dijo el gansito pequeño
"Ten calma", agregó la gansa robusta
"Todo irá bien", dijo el ganso viejo
"¿No vio mi caparazón?"

De pronto, la gansa robusta lanzó un grito de indignación
Le dio una tremenda bofetada a un cuarto ganso enorme
Que estaba a su lado y salió corriendo
El ganso enorme no era otro que...
¡El Oso Libidinoso disfrazado!
Que corría a la gansa, ofreciéndole una margarita
Al grito de: "¡Sublime éxtasis de amor, gansita
Vayamos, vayamos pronto!"

Los gansos fueron en ayuda de la gansa robusta
Y la Princesa se quedó sola

"No debo flaquear", díjose la Princesa
"No debo flaquear, debo encontrar al duque"
Pero en ese momento
Se hicieron oír los bajos instintos de la Princesa

"Olvida al duque
Recuerda los abrazos de aquel fornido palafrenero de palacio"
"Pero debo cumplir con mi deber"
"¿Y si algo falla y el hechizo se rompe solo a medias?
El duque podría quedar medio animal"
"Bueno, en eso es igual el palafrenero"

Mientras esto sucedía en el bosque
Veamos qué pasaba en una pacífica granja cercana
El granjero, silbando distraídamente
Ordeñaba a la Vaca Resaca

La vaca rumiaba sus pensamientos
Y otras flores que había comido esa mañana
"¡Qué extraño!", pensaba la Vaca Resaca
"Es la primera vez que me ordeña de tarde"
Y miró al granjero
Cuando lo vio, Resaca lanzó un mugido y salió corriendo
El granjero no era otro que...

¡El Oso Libidinoso disfrazado!
Quien comenzó a perseguirla ofreciéndole una margarita
Al grito de: "¡Sublime éxtasis de amor, vaquita
Vayamos, vayamos pronto!"

En el bosque, la Princesa, ayudada por los Gansos Mansos
Ya había interrogado a casi todos los animales
Pero no había logrado averiguar cuál de ellos era el duque
Una triste desazón invadió a la Princesa

De pronto, los gansos, viendo llegar al pajarillo y a la mariposa
Bramaron: "¡Ustedes dos!
¿Qué hacían la noche en que el duque fue hechizado?"
"Nada, nada"
"¡Confiesen!"
"Y bien, sí, pero nos vamos a casar"

Un fracaso más
Otra triste desazón invadió a la Princesa
Teresa alzó sus bellos ojos
Como implorando ayuda a los que la rodeaban
Hasta que su mirada se cruzó con la del jabalí
"¡Miren, sí, sí, no hay duda!", dijo la Princesa
"¡El jabalí tiene la misma mirada que el duque!"
El jabalí, con sombría voz declaró
"Es que yo no soy un jabalí"
"¡Oh!"
"Yo soy..."
"¡Él es...!"
"Un duque hechizado"
"¡El Duque Sigfrido!"
"No, el Duque de Mantua"
"¿Y qué haces aquí?", preguntó sorprendida la Princesa
"Me echaron de Rigoletto"

La última posibilidad había fracasado
Otra triste desazón más invadió a la Princesa

De pronto, de la espesura
Surgió el Oso Libidinoso y exclamó
"¡Aguarde, al ver a Teresa recuperé la memoria!
¡Ahora entiendo la causa de mi vergonzoso desenfreno
He sido víctima de un hechizo cruel!
¡Gracias, amor mío, por venir a salvarme!
¡Yo soy el Duque Sigfrido!"

Dicho esto, el oso arrancó una margarita
Y viendo la alegría en el rostro de la Princesa
Se dirigió a su encuentro triunfalmente

El oso le ofreció la margarita a la Princesa
Pero, en ese momento
La Bruja Granuja se interpuso
Y con aire trágico gritó
"¡Tú no eres el duque, farsante!
No puedo soportar este atropello"

"Yo no sirvo para bruja
Lo hago para complacer a mi familia
El Duque Sigfrido es el molusco"

Y la bruja se fue llorando
Mientras el oso, conmovido
Corría tras ella, ofreciéndole la margarita
Todos felicitaron al molusco
Quien avanzó hacia la Princesa, lentamente, como un duque
Mientras el molusco agradecía los aplausos
Teresa lo tomó con amor, y lo depositó suavemente
Sobre la palma de su mano

Y ya inician su triunfal regreso al palacio
Los animales los escoltan en eufórico cortejo

Teresa and the Bear (Story)

That would have been a peaceful autumn morning in the forest
An ordinary autumn morning

If it weren't already four in the afternoon
And they were in summer

All the animals had been summoned
By Princess Teresa, in a clearing in the forest
To find out which of them was her fiancé
Duke Siegfried the Upright

The Duke had been bewitched by the Granuja Witch
