My dearest sister, please wait a moment
So that I may open up my heart
Where does such an aspiration come from?
That I should build a synagogue

And if I may build a synagogue, you see
Where do I get the confidence
To sing for the Jewish sheep
To take on the responsibility of a rabbi

Only someone who is well-known to the public
Knows that they can accomplish much as a hero
Strengthening many souls
With joy through song
And sometimes you catch a pebble for it

Every difficulty is like a stone
I have never thrown one back, no
Gritted my teeth
Laid down the pebbles
And from that built a synagogue, beautifully resplendent
Creator, you know this yourself
We catch stones, one after the other
From Gaza and Afghanistan
And the hatred that comes from Iran

Trials, most grievous, one suffers
In Jewishness, there is so much that pains
The heavy stones everywhere
Look, the troubles of Israel

The community of Israel is well-known to the public
It goes without saying that one suffers much because of it
(Oh!)
And when one suffers this oppression
One cannot do anything but push back
Father, only you can help like a hero

Creator, please gather
Stone after stone
Hear this plea and this lament
Bring together your congregations
Take all the pebbles
And build yourself your synagogue, beautifully resplendent
