This night our Lady and St. Joseph was going up to get registered and, um,
They were going down the road and they met this man and he said,
"Have you any room?" and he said, "No, but there's an old stable over there that I owned, if yous want to go into it."
And they went over and the Lord came down from the heaven at twelve o'clock and loads of beautiful angels was with them, and when they were walkin'...

I walk the streets of Dublin town, it's eighteen forty-two
It's snowing on this Christmas Eve, think I'll beg another bob or two
I'll huddle in this doorway here
'Til someone comes along
If the lamp lighter comes real soon

These three wise kings, um, they were all from different countries.
And they always used to look up at the sky and they looked up this night and saw this beautiful star up in the sky.
And when they were going they all meeted together and they had to pass King Herod's, not that we much care for him.
And they went in and he said, "Where ye goin' with yer best stitches on ye?"

The horses on the cobbled stones go by, think I'll get one, one fine day
And ride into the countryside and very far away
But now as the daylight disappears
I best find a place to sleep
Think I'll slip into the bell tower
In the church just down the street
Maybe I can find a place I can call my home

And they said, "Did you not hear the news?" and say he says, "What news?" He says, "This day the Savior is born."
And he says to them, "When you find him come back and tell me 'cause I want to go and adore him too."
And he was only coddin' them. He wanted to kill him and when they were going, they stopped and they said,
"Surely not this old stable that our King is born in. We were expecting a palace."

Maybe on the way I'll find the dog I saw the other night
And tuck him underneath my jacket
So we'll stay warm through the night
And as we lie in the bell tower high
And dream of days to come
The bells o'er head will call the hours

There was these shepherds and shepherds are fellas that mind
The foals and cows and sheeps and little lambs and all and, um,
They hears this beautiful music up in the sky and they were wondering what was so fun.
An angel disappated them and he said, "I was wonderin' what was so fun"
And he said ye, and he said, "The savior is born. If yous want to go see him, follow that star up in the sky," and it was a beautiful star.

Cette nuit-là, Notre-Dame et Saint Joseph montaient se faire enregistrer et, euh,
Ils marchaient sur la route et ont rencontré cet homme et il a dit :
"Avez-vous une chambre ?" et il a répondu : "Non, mais il y a une vieille étable là-bas que je possède, si vous voulez y aller."
Et ils y sont allés et le Seigneur est descendu du ciel à minuit et des tas de beaux anges étaient avec eux, et pendant qu'ils marchaient...

Je marche dans les rues de Dublin, nous sommes en 1842
Il neige en cette veille de Noël, je pense que je vais mendier un ou deux shillings de plus
Je vais me blottir dans cette porte
Jusqu'à ce que quelqu'un arrive
Si l'allumeur de réverbères arrive bientôt
Je rentrerai peut-être à la maison avec lui

Ces trois rois mages, euh, venaient tous de pays différents.
Et ils avaient l'habitude de regarder le ciel et ils ont levé les yeux cette nuit-là et ont vu cette magnifique étoile dans le ciel.
Et en chemin, ils se sont tous rencontrés et ont dû passer devant le roi Hérode, non pas que nous nous souciions beaucoup de lui.
Et ils sont entrés et il a dit : "Où allez-vous avec vos plus beaux atours ?"

Les chevaux sur les pavés passent, je pense que j'en aurai un, un beau jour
Et je chevaucherai dans la campagne et très loin
Mais maintenant que le jour disparaît
Je ferais mieux de trouver un endroit où dormir
Je pense que je vais me glisser dans le clocher
Dans l'église juste en bas de la rue
Peut-être que je peux trouver un endroit que je peux appeler ma maison
Peut-être que je peux trouver une maison que je peux appeler la mienne

Et ils ont dit : "N'avez-vous pas entendu la nouvelle ?" et il dit : "Quelle nouvelle ?" Il dit : "Ce jour est né le Sauveur."
Et il leur dit : "Quand vous le trouverez, revenez me le dire, car je veux aussi aller l'adorer."
Et il ne faisait que les tromper. Il voulait le tuer et pendant qu'ils partaient, ils se sont arrêtés et ont dit :
"Ce n'est sûrement pas dans cette vieille étable que notre Roi est né. Nous nous attendions à un palais."

Peut-être qu'en chemin je trouverai le chien que j'ai vu l'autre nuit
Et le borderai sous ma veste
Pour qu'on reste au chaud pendant la nuit
Et alors que nous sommes allongés dans le haut du clocher
Et rêvons des jours à venir
Les cloches au-dessus de nos têtes sonneront les heures
Le jour où nous trouverons une maison
Peut-être que je peux trouver un endroit que je peux appeler ma maison

Il y avait ces bergers et les bergers sont des gars qui gardent
Les poulains, les vaches, les moutons et les petits agneaux et tout, et, euh,
Ils entendent cette belle musique dans le ciel et se demandent ce qu'il y a de si amusant.
Un ange s'est présenté à eux et a dit : "Je me demandais ce qu'il y avait de si amusant"
Et il a dit oui, et il a dit : "Le sauveur est né. Si vous voulez aller le voir, suivez cette étoile dans le ciel", et c'était une magnifique étoile.
