Mount Hua

That summer, an unexpected sight,
To brave a perilous height, a change of route in sight.
Winding mountain roads, moss and flowers in bloom,
A curious discovery, a hidden chain to climb, my doom.

A chance encounter, a Taoist temple, sheltering from the rain,
Asking the Taoist priest, "How many years in this domain?"
"My former master ascended, time has become a blur,
Rare to see a traveler, your karmic tie is not obscure."

Together to the deep mountains, dining on wind and dew,
Playing the guqin, growing tea, a secluded life anew.
Together to the deep mountains, following nature's way,
Plum blossoms as wife, cranes as children, far from the world's sway.

Hand in hand to a world beyond,
The blue sky as our cover fond,
In the mountains, free and beyond,
Year after year, flowers bloom and fade, respond.

Rain clears, clouds part, a hurried goodbye we share,
Waterfalls cleanse the dust, mountain springs, pure and rare.
Steep slopes and stone steps, the path out we tread,
A lingering reluctance, a backward glance, as we're led.

Years have passed, fate has shifted and changed,
My heart still yearns for that world, estranged.
Mount Hua's everything, like a gentle breeze, so sweet,
Often, my spirit wanders, to the mountain forest, to retreat.
