Motl the Operator
In the shop there he always stands
All the years he goes around in vain
He turns the little machine
And sweats at the little machine
Motl is a fine young man.

Oh Motl has a wife and two children
Hard and bitter he works for them
And the more Motl works hard
The more the boss earns everything
And Motl remains the same poor man.

What does Motl want?
The operator Motl?
He doesn't want any wealth or money.
He wants bread for his wife and children,
And sometimes a shoe, a garment.
Motl doesn't want much from the world.

A strike has broken out.
For twelve whole weeks,
And Motl is a good union man.

When he is sent, he goes
And with all of them in the picket line.

His wife and two children are at home.
Oh, without a piece of bread she has for them.
Motl's heart hurts
Everything looks black to him,
He walks around the shop with a sigh.

Motl stands in the picket line
And a gangster with a contempt.
He falls there in the middle of the grass.
With the bottle that he held.
He smashed Motl's head
Motl gets wet in his own blood.

There was a tumult, a cry.
Brought him to his wife and two children.
They cry shed tears
But Motl cannot hear
Motl has finished his job.
