De que un borriquillo naciera poeta
Al cálido aliento de aquel paraíso.
Se llama Platero ese borriquillo,
Asombro del mundo, mi mejor amigo.
En Andalucía hay muchos Plateros.
Todos son poetas, todos son muy buenos.
Y a tí, vida mía, te voy a regalar
Un burro Platero para caminar.
Y siempre juntitos iremos los tres
Recorriendo el mundo con nuestro querer.

Qué hermosa es la vida si canta el amor.

No hay cosa más linda en el muro entero

Platero, You and I

From the vine arbours to the marshes
And from its beaches to the mountains,
Populated with olive groves and verdant meadows
And parched mountains, there is Andalusia.
And the miracle occurred, because on this earth
Full of poetry, God so wished,
That a donkey might be born a poet
In the warm embrace of that paradise.
Platero is the name of that donkey,
The marvel of the world, my dearest friend.
In Andalusia there are many Plateros.
They are all poets, all are very good.
And to you, my love, I shall give
A Platero to walk with.
And we shall always go together, the three of us,
Travelling the world with our love.

There is nothing lovelier in all the world
Than a cool shade beside my beloved,
