V soumraku tmu do ulic vyhání

Kamenná ženská bez ruky

Tak to tu vážně ještě nebylo
Aby tu korzovali pavouci.
Co lidí tady dřív jen chodilo
Co písní znělo tady za noci.

Sklípkani, prach a křídla netopýrů
Pavoučí nožky sochám berou míru.
Jinak je ve městě docela klid
Pláčou tu jen zbytky karyatyd.
A mě rve srdce na kusy
Když sochy roní slzy
A smutně krčí rameny.

Tak to tu vážně ještě nebylo
Aby tu korzovali pavouci.
Co lidí tady dřív jen chodilo
Co písní znělo tady za noci.

Kolem se cosi plíží a spřádá sítě,
Hrůzně se usmívá a šeptá chci tě.
Zrychlená káča otáčení
Zrychlený klapot a běh
Zrychlené hodiny padají ze zdi
A zaráží dech.

Spiders

Spiders reign in the city
Driving darkness into the streets at dusk
Under the heavy gate the stone woman sighed
Armless
Then she opened her eyes, raised her eyebrows in astonishment
And shrugged her shoulders

For spiders to parade here.
How many people used to walk here,
What songs sounded here at night.

Spiders, dust and bat wings
Spider legs take the measure of the statues.
