Alexis Lapointe was a very strange animal,
He had springs in his runnings, he was a phenomenal athlete.

In elementary school and in the village, when they called him a blockhead,

One day, a wealthy investor took an interest in the phenomenon,
He figured that by exploiting him a little, he could make a couple of cents.
And from that day on, he was exhibited at fairs,
And from the four corners of the kingdom, everyone rushed to see him.
On the fastest thoroughbred, he carried it off with a high hand,
Not out of breath, innocent air, he even outdistanced trains.
His legend gained ground, crossed the borders of the country,
Found the ear of a promoter somewhere in the United States.

Not accepting to be second, like any good American,
The promoter challenged our man to come and face his colt.
Stung in their pride, all the good people of the canton
Broke their piggy bank to pay for a train ticket for their champion.
Not only big cash at stake but our national pride,
For Alexis to perform better, he was entitled to four-star service.
In the most luxurious hotel, they paid him for the best room,

But Alexis was deaf, he didn't hear the train coming.
The machine ran over his body like a kick from fate.
The train crushed both his legs, his only two faithful friends.
He crossed the finish line and that day no one laughed.
