Kind Of Blue is a modal jazz classic recorded during the cool jazz era.
It is based around a single concept that is explored and developed through the album,
with the addition of other musicians adding layers of texture and depth.
The musicians who played on the album went on to become leading figures in jazz,
and Kind Of Blue is considered to be the Miles Davis Quintet's finest hour,
with each musician playing at the height of their powers.
Tenor saxophonist John Coltrane shared Davis's restless spirit
and the two of them developed a fluid, intuitive rapport,
which is most evident on the classic track "So What".
Alto saxophonist "Cannonball" Adderley,
bassist Paul Chambers and drummer James Cobb complete the line-up,
each of them contributing their own unique talents to the collective brilliance.
