And they witnessed what they were doing to the believers.
And they had no fault except that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Owner of Praise,
To Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And Allah is witness over all things.
Verily, those who persecute (or torture) the believing men and believing women without their having committed any fault, they shall have incurred a calumny and a manifest sin.
O you who believe! Ward off from yourselves and your families a Fire whose fuel is men and stones, over which are (appointed) angels stern (and) severe, who flinch not from (carrying out) the Commands of Allah, but do (precisely) what they are commanded.
Verily, those who disbelieve and keep (others) away from the Path of Allah, and from the Inviolable Mosque which We have appointed for (the benefit of) all mankind and (sanctioned for) worship whether (they be) dwellers or nomads, and those who have intended to profane it with wrong-doing, We shall give them a taste of a painful doom.
And remember, We gave the site, to Abraham, of the (Sacred) House, (saying): "Associate not anything (in worship) with Me; and sanctify My House for those who compass it round, or stand up, or bow, or prostrate themselves (therein in prayer)."
That they may witness things that are of benefit to them (and) mention the name of Allah on appointed days, over the beast of cattle that He has provided for them for food. then eat thereof and feed the poor and the needy.
Then let them complete the rites prescribed for them, perform their vows, and (make the prescribed) circuits round the Ancient House.
That is (the Pilgrimage enjoined), and whoever honours the Symbols of Allah, in truth it proceeds from piety of heart.
Lawful to you, in the name of Allah, are cattle, except those mentioned to you (as forbidden). So shun the abomination of idols, and shun the word that is false;
(Being) true in faith to Allah and never assigning partners to Him. And whoever assigns partners to Allah, he has indeed gone far astray.
If they seek your aid in the matter of religion, then help them; for Allah is with those who are true in faith.
Verily, Allah will defend those who believe: for Allah loves not any that is a traitor to his trust, or ungrateful.
Permitted to you, on pilgrimage, are all things good and pure: But as for the profane game, it is forbidden to you while in the state of pilgrimage. And fear Allah, and know that Allah is strict in punishment.
Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which has been invoked the name of other than Allah, that which has been killed by strangling, or by a violent blow, or by a headlong fall, or by the goring of horns, and that which has been (partly) eaten by a beast of prey
- unless you have slaughtered it (in due form)
- and that which is sacrificed on stone (altars), (or) divined by arrows: that is impiety. This day, those who disbelieve have despaired of your religion: so fear them not, but fear Me. This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. But if anyone is forced by severe hunger, with no inclination to sin (on his part),
- for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful, (such a person)
-
You shall not enter Paradise until you believe; and you will not believe until you spend in the way of Allah; and you shall not spend in the way of Allah of that which you love until you spend that which you need; and you will not spend until you spend of that which Allah has made lovable to you. And whatever you spend in the way of Allah, (be sure) Allah knows it.
The pilgrimage is (in) the well-known months, and whoever is minded to perform the pilgrimage therein (let him remember that) there is (to be) no lewdness nor abuse, nor angry conversation during pilgrimage. And whatever good you do, (be sure) Allah knows it. And take a provision (with you) for the journey, but the best provision is piety. And fear Me, O you who are endowed with understanding.
It is no sin for you to seek the bounty of your Lord (during pilgrimage). Then when you come forth from Arafat, remember Allah near the sacred monument; and remember Him as He has guided you, though before that you were surely among those who were astray.
