یاد ایامی که در گلشن فغانی داشتم
درمیان لاله و گل آشیانی داشتم

گِرد آن شمع طرب میسوختم پروانه وار
پای آن سرو روان اشک روانی داشتم

آتشم بر جان ولی شِکوِه لب خاموش بود
عشق را از اشک حسرت ترجمانی داشتم

درد بی عشقی ز جانم برده طاقت
ورنه من داشتم آرام، تا آرام جانی داشتم

چون سرشک از شق بودم خاکبوس درگهی
چون غبار از شکر سر بر آستانی داشتم

گِرد آن شمع طرب میسوختم پروانه وار

بلبل طبعم رهی باشد ز تنهایی خموش
نغمه ها بودی مرا تا همزبانی داشتم

Memories of the Past

I remember the days when I was afflicted in the garden;
I had a nest among the tulips and flowers.

I burned around that candle of joy like a moth;
At the foot of that tall and beautiful cypress, I shed tears.

My heart was on fire, but my lips were silent in complaint;
I interpreted love through tears of regret.

The pain of lovelessness has taken my patience from my soul;
Otherwise, I had peace, as long as I had a piece of life.

Like a dewdrop from a flower, I was prostrating at the doorstep;
Like dust from sugar, I raised my head to the threshold.

I burned around that candle of joy like a moth;
At the foot of that tall and beautiful cypress, I shed tears.

The nightingale of my soul is silent in loneliness;
I had melodies as long as I had a companion.
