كانتمنا تكون مفتاخر بيا و نكون عند حسن الظن
ملي يشكروني الناس و يقولوا هذاك ولد فـلان
و سماحلي اذا بسبابي ذكرك بالشر لسان
و اذا قسرت فحقك حيت أنا غير انسان

To The Departed

It was too soon when you left, leaving me young and small,
You departed unexpectedly, leaving a deep sorrow in my heart's hall.
You left in haste, as God had written for you a short lifespan's call,
You left quickly, leaving me to question and ponder, standing tall.
I remained seated at home, waiting, understanding nothing at all,
Mother returned alone, without you, tears began to fall.
She looked into my eyes and said, "Son, your father is gone, that's all,"
My mouth fell silent, I was devastated, my little sister began to bawl.
My mind, still young, couldn't grasp the meaning of death's call,
I saw people in black, weeping, wiping away tears that enthrall.
I saw the door open, thinking you would walk through, standing tall,
I saw you in every corner, I saw you in every prayer's call.
I still remember how the house filled with cries and mourning's sprawl,
Eyes cried from the heart, and eyes shed crocodile tears, that's all.
And quickly everything changed, sorrows turned into joys, standing tall,
As if we had cried enough, and tears had healed the wounds' call.
Days and months passed, and so many years began to fall,
Memories remained in my mind, like volcanoes standing tall.
Perhaps tears have forgotten, as my eyes have forgotten your call,
But my heart is wounded, and still grieves for you, standing tall.
You left my life before I could understand who you were at all,
You left before I could grasp you, grow up, and see us stand tall.
You left, and I remained imprisoned in childhood memories' sprawl,
You left, and I remained with only assumptions, that's all.
I assume you were a fighter, I assume you were strong and tall,
I assume because you were a man, we remained protected within our wall.
I assume this is what my siblings and friends recall,
I assume I resemble you, which means you were respected by all.
The void you left in my life grows larger with each day's call,
Day by day, I understand a riddle and a secret begins to enthrall.
The more years pass, the more I wish you were near, standing tall,
Every sunrise, I long for you when you disappear, that's all.
Every moment in my life, you left your place empty, within the wall,
You left my heart wounded, with wounds no tears can heal at all.
Memories are thirsty, and you alone were the storyteller, standing tall,
The more I grow, the more I understand what you have done, that's all.
Even though days have passed and years have withered and fall,
You never drowned in the sea of oblivion, you remain in my mind's hall.
You remain present in the past, and I built a statue for you, standing tall,
