朝顔が咲いていた。
横に空の如雨露が
転がっていて、
いつか夏休みが
終わってしまうことを
みんなが知っていた。
ラジオ体操の判子が

まだ宿題はほとんど
残っているけれど、
大丈夫、きっとまだ大丈夫。

気が付くと僕は鼻血を出して、
ネット横、木の下で
横になっていた。
鼻に詰めたティッシュに
汗と血が滲んでいた、
凍ったアクエリアスが全身に
染みていくのがわかった。
金属バットにボールが当たる、
上がる砂埃が目に染みる、
蝉にも負けずに叫び続けた
「ばっちこい、ばっちこい」
何を待ってる？
本当は何を待っている？

練習を終えると
僕は歩いて帰った。
道路沿い、六階、
親が置いて行った飯代。
銀色の鉄柱、二階の学習塾。
キラやレアを待つ、
商店街のカードダス。
静かに霊柩車が横切る度に、
山内が言っていた
あの話を思い出した。
「お母さんやお父さんを
連れていかれないように
こうやって親指を隠すんだよ。」って。

日が暮れて鐘が鳴る
ただそれの繰り返しを
冷房の効いた部屋で
ゲームをしている。
氷の溶けたグラスに
水滴が付いている。
画面の中の主人公が隠れて
敵が来るのを待っている。
ポテトチップスを摘んだ手で
触ったコントローラーを
濡れたティッシュで拭き取って、
セーブして、ぬるい麦茶を
一気に流し込んで喉を潤した。

新井とは一度喧嘩したけど
いつのまにか仲直りした。
栗原がピッチャーで
優太郎がキャッチャー。
寺倉はサイドスロー、
健太は肩が良かった。
田口は背が高くて、
菊は足が速かった。
石井が菌と呼ばれていると、
みんなでそれに乗っかった。
杉本は双子、金持ちの近野、
関谷ん家の小さな犬、
一度も話したことなかったけど
浅野のことが好きだった。

マンションを出ると
都会特有の熱気で、
公園にいくと
もう自転車が集まっていた。
いつか貰ったお年玉の
残りを話して、
爪楊枝を赤く塗って
駄菓子屋のおばちゃんを騙した。
誰かが鬼になって
誰かを追いかける。
誰かが捕まって
誰かが鬼になる。
敵になっては見方になる、
僕は主人公じゃなかった。

日が暮れて鐘が鳴る
ただそれの繰り返しを
気が知れて友になる
ただそれの繰り返しを
足りなくて足し続ける

朝が来て母が呼ぶ
ただそれの繰り返しを

共働きの両親が
連れて行ってくれた遊園地、
ベンチでソフトクリーム、
虹色に見えた。
観覧車、ゴーカート、
お化け屋敷、ジェットコースター、
海賊船、その中から僕はなぜか
メリーゴーランドを選んで、
馬に跨って、ふと気がついた。

僕はずっと
同じところを回っている
そしていつか
終わりが必ずやってくる

時計は回って
また同じ数字に戻る
遊び終わって
また必ず家に帰る
一月のうちに
またこんなに髪が伸びてる
終わったはずの夏が
また訪れる

もう二度と九月なんて
来ないように
永遠の夏休み
終わらないこの八月に
日差しは弱くなり
コンクリートは冷えた
でもまだみんなの声が聞こえる

大丈夫、きっとまだ大丈夫。

Eternal Summer Vacation

Morning glories were in bloom.

The sun sets, the bell rings,

We all went along with it.
Sugimoto was a twin, Konno was rich,

But I liked Asano.

Leaving the apartment,

The amusement park
My working parents took me to,
The soft serve ice cream on the bench,
Looked rainbow colored.
The Ferris wheel, the go-karts,
The haunted house, the roller coaster,
The pirate ship, and for some reason,
I chose the merry-go-round,
And as I rode the horse, I suddenly realized.

I've been
Going around in the same place
And someday,
The end will surely come

The clock keeps ticking,
Returning to the same numbers again.
When the playing is over,
We always go back home.
In a month,
My hair has grown this long again.
The summer that was supposed to be over,
Comes back again.

Never let September
Come again,
An eternal summer vacation.
In this August that never ends,
The sunlight has weakened,
The concrete has cooled,
But I can still hear everyone's voices.
