En nuestro país "hubieron" dos grandes cantores:
A uno lo mataron y la otra se mató.
No cantaban demasiado lindo esos señores,
Pero cada nota desde el alma les salió.

La guitarra siempre acompañaba sus canciones;
No necesitaban demasiadas cosas más.
Yo nunca los vi, sólo he escuchado grabaciones...
Sus composiciones al derecho y al revés.

Dime a quién le importa cuantos discos se vendieron?
Si salieron en la radio o en televisión.
Ellos son la voz de los que juntos se murieron,
Y ahora son el canto de nuestra generación.

-Fama contra Fama- no me vengan con cuestiones;
Se trata de algunos que cantaron de verdad.
Por favor, no crean que somos todos tan weones...
Yo prefiero el canto a toda esa vanidad.

Two Singers

In our country there were two great singers:
One they killed and the other killed herself.
Those gentlemen didn't sing too beautifully,
But every note came from their souls.

The guitar always accompanied their songs;
They didn't need much else.
I never saw them, I've only heard recordings...
Their compositions, forwards and backwards.

Tell me, who cares how many records were sold?
