Laughing in the dark, changing the subject

She has no interest in your poetry

Sweet words, sound of sand
Some stranger knocks on the door
They are throwing stones at the windows
Smoke rises in the alley next door
But it's certainly nothing new

But Maryanne who sang alone dancing on stage
Still had her ticket in her pocket kept hidden
Perhaps stolen, perhaps for fun
She is waiting for the fire to light
Plays on the edge

And Maryanne who laughed sitting under the lights
Screams around, beer on the walls, tarnished spark
Old tale, made-up story
Or a song written in a hurry and sung
When it's already dark

Red dress with two boots
