Children's Eyes

Sometimes when I see children
So tender and wee, then I stand still
I talk to them, I laugh with them
I wonder if they understand me
I'd like to know what children think about
What goes on in their little heads
If they already know what it means
To have been born in this world
Children's eyes don't see the world as it is
They don't yet see
That friendship is often judged by money
We feel strong and don't see
How children can teach us
It would be so beautiful if we could always be children
When children's hands touch each other
The thoughts are always good
A handshake, however, says nothing
About that which resides in the hearts
Children cannot decide
About wrong and right
They cannot consciously hurt
They cannot know what is good and what is bad
Children's eyes don't see the world the way we do
Pink clouds are the shadows over you and me
Children look at you with a glance
So innocent and pure
Suddenly you realize
You can't be a child anymore
But still my wish for all time remains
I wish I could see through the eyes of these children
I want to see the world again through the eyes of a child
