Je suis le contraire de tout ce
en quoi tu voudrais croire
parce que je ne crois même pas en moi-même.

Si une porte est fermée, elle le reste

et tous mes nœuds se défont et la coque cède
et il y a un monstre dans l'eau et il me fait un sourire
et me dit, mec, tu aurais dû rester sur la terre ferme.

Eh bien, je n'ai pas pu choisir cette vie
mais Dieu merci, je ne l'ai pas fait
parce que si je l'avais fait, je serais un connard
avec une vue

surplombant une grande ville
sans personne d'autre avec moi
juste de l'argent et une bouteille d'alcool.

Alors au moins j'ai mes amis avec qui je peux boire
et ils m'aiment la plupart du temps, j'aime à le penser
et on boit, on trinque et on porte un toast
les uns aux autres et aux fantômes
des gens qui ne sont plus avec nous.

Et il y a un trou dans le sol à la fin de tout ça
et parfois je peux jurer que je l'entends respirer
mais d'autres fois je pense qu'il y a une place pour toi et moi
le problème c'est que ça attend juste derrière une porte
