Il serpente piumato vola alto nel celo,
Nell′aria si espande una dolce nebbia,
Parla di fumo di incoscienza e di sogni
E un flauto che suona: quello di Medeghin.
Lo hanno sentito tutti nel mondo, uomini, donne, ragazzi e bambini
Seguono ignari quel dolce richiamo
Quel sentore di cose antiche e leali.
Ma il serpente piumato ha un altro voto,
Quello feroce di un condor spietato,
Si butta inesorabile sulla sua preda
E la stritola con artigli d'acciaio.
La nebbia tenebra fin dentro le case
S′insinua subdola nelle coscienze,
Risveglia mostri sempre pronti a colpire,
Uccide amore e solidarietà.

The Feathered Serpent

The feathered serpent flies high in the sky,
A sweet mist spreads through the air,
It speaks of dreams and of oblivion's smoke,
And a flute that plays: that of Medeghin.
Everyone in the world has heard it, men, women, boys and girls
They follow that sweet call, unwittingly,
That scent of things ancient and loyal.
But the feathered serpent has another vow,
That fierce of a pitiless condor,
It throws itself inexorably on its prey
And crushes it with steel claws.
The fog darkens into the houses
It creeps into consciences, insidious,
It awakens monsters always ready to strike,
It kills love and solidarity.
