Cuando bajé de la sierra
Me encaré con el Coyote
Y abrazando a Maria Elena
Le dije: "ya tiene nombre"
Porque la hermita sagrada
Nos casó el cura del monte

Él agachó la cabeza
Y se fue cobardemente
Pero como era coyote
Se devolvió de repente
Él me buscaba la espalda

And I went to the mountains
The Coyote was a bandit
Born over yonder in my homeland
I knew him since he was a child
We went to school together

During the first lessons
I knew what he was trying to do
Because he sang songs
Playing his guitar
And even though he would lose his illusions
He would not cry

That May night
He liked my Maria Elena
But I arrived on horseback
I already had a date with her

When I came down from the mountains
I faced the Coyote
And embracing Maria Elena
I told him: "she already has a man"
Because in the holy chapel
The priest from the mountain married us

He hung his head
And he left like a coward
But since he was a coyote
He suddenly returned
He was aiming for my back
But I faced him head-on

Coyote, proud Coyote
Who does not respect love
You could have been a good friend
Your betrayals killed you
