Here now, tiny snowflakes
Knit a blanket over the world
I could do with a warm cup of comfort
And some lovely company

A hike is a home for
For someone who lives alone
So I'll stare at the firewood longingly
And hope for a knock at the door

Or the hare who wants somewhere to stay
May there be an answer why they have not yet dropped by
Since last winter's days

I hear the bells in the distance
Calling me to come out and play
Maybe I'll put on my snow boots
Dig out this red hood
Or visit my grandmother's place

I'll follow a raven
Through the pine wearing white sleeves of snow
Through the years they have watched me grow taller
And they know all too well where I'll go

Wolf howl cannot harm you
If you're not afraid of walking alone
But as a fawn loses sight of its mother
I wonder why we're all given

The warmth for another, be it family or lover
To plant hope in a beating heart
Only to have winter's scythe send its chills down their spines
And take them somewhere far apart

Calling us to come out and pray
And I've come here to weep
But how can there be flowers
Growing out of the grave

To awaken the feelings of spring
