C'era una volta l'ocona sgangherona

La sgangherona si fece coraggio
Lasciò la strada che andava a Corfù
E in un laghetto si buttò giù

Un anno dopo passando di lì
Chi la vedeva diceva così

Guarda che furba la sgangherona

Dal più bel cigno s'è fatta sposare
E adesso tutti vanno a guardare
Ha sette piccoli, grassi cignetti

The Clumsy Goose

Once upon a time there was a clumsy goose
Soft and wide like an armchair
She had grown up in an old farmhouse
Always working and feeling a bit unwell

She was nice, the clumsy goose
She was a bit stout, she wasn't beautiful
But she stood guard and was good at it
She really acted as a sentinel

Then one evening she packed her bags
With a graceful bundle in her beak
Under the stars she set off
"I'll walk until morning comes"

That fat goose that waddles!"
But the clumsy goose, feeling uneasy
Pretended to have a destination

After two days and two nights of travel
The clumsy goose took courage
She left the road that went to Corfu
And threw herself into a small lake

A year later, passing by there
Whoever saw her said this

She has seven little, fat cygnets
