Bao năm xuôi ngược, khắp miền hành quân ngày đêm

Trang thư vài câu, làm thương thế thôi
Nàng hay trách hờn người tình biên ải
Bảo rằng vì ai nỡ đành nhạt phai

Em ơi cho dù súng thù giờ đây lẻ loi
Nhưng anh vẫn còn trách nhiệm vì dân dấn thân
Nên thư của anh vẫn là thư lính
Trong đêm rừng sâu đèn sao sáng soi
Vài câu viết vội, lời tình chân thành
Mong người em yêu thấu hiểu tình anh.

Khi non nước còn giặc thù
Em chấp nhận lời nguyền, đời trai dâng núi sông
Bao ưu ái chuyện của lòng em cố đợi trùng phùng trên vùng quê hương
Cho nếu yêu thương còn dang dở và còn nhưng nay cách chia
Em là Tô Thị nghìn đêm trông chồng xa ngoài chân mây
Cầu mong cho người xưa quý lưu danh.

Em anh yên lòng an phận người thương chờ mong
Mai kia thanh bình trở lại cười vui thắm lên
Anh xin vì em đáp đền nhung nhớ
Nâng niu hồn em, bằng trăng đắm say
Cỏ hoa chất đầy thuyền về bên mộng
Trên vùng yêu đương kết nụ tầm xuân

The Letter I Wrote

For years, I have been traveling day and night, far and wide
Amidst the hardships, my heart still yearns for the mountains and rivers of my homeland
Therefore, at times, knowing that you miss me
A few lines in a letter can only cause you more sorrow
You often reproach me, your lover on the frontier
Accusing me of heartlessly neglecting you

Patiently await my return, amidst the worries of your heart, for our reunion in our homeland

You are my Tô Thị, waiting a thousand nights for your husband far away
Pray for me, that I may return with honor.

Rest assured, my love, that I will wait for you faithfully
When peace finally returns, we shall laugh and rejoice
I will make up for all the lost time
Cherishing you, my love, like a moonstruck dreamer
A boat laden with flowers shall carry me to your dreams
