São o livro da minha infância

Charque, Laranja, Mandioca
E a esperança de aos pouquinhos
Ver tua trança chinoca
O mato que segue o rio
Tem uma estreita picada
É um amigo sombrio
Traz minha história guardada
Guarda o aroma das flores
Cheiro de raiz molhada
Me viu pechar com os rigores
Rumbeando ao rancho da amada

Pra sentar junto contigo
E dar mate ao coração
Assim tu vinhas comigo
Sem sair do teu rincão
Aquela estradinha andeja
Aberta por gado e por gente
Tem alecrins, tem carquejas
Que lembram de mim contente
E tem só marcas de casco
Pra o lado da tua morada
Na volta... eu vinha tão leve
Que nem marcava na estrada
Mais quinze dias de lida
E estavas sempre comigo
Que linda e terna é a vida
Pra quem não sente o perigo!
Naquela taipa arrombada
Na invernada da tapera
Cada mareta da aguada
Conta um pouco do que eu era
Ali me vi ao inverso
Na flor d'agua cristalina
E fiz meu primeiro verso
Para agradar-te menina

E as tropilhas cimarronas

Embelezando esses fundos
Jamais achei teu encanto
Por este tempo disperso
Voltei pra encontrar meu canto
E completar o teu verso

Te cuida o gado liberto e as tropilhas cimarronas
Eu não te cuidei florzita minha poesia incompleta

Rocks of the clear stream
That flows at the bottom of the estancia
Are so precious, so rare
They are the book of my childhood
There I came across a note
Right to a neighboring ranch
My mother asked for
Kerosene for the lamp
I took to the neighbor
Charque, oranges, cassava
And the hope of, little by little

Smell of wet roots
Saw me close with the harshness
Heading to the ranch of the beloved

To sit with you
And give mate to the heart

Without leaving your corner
That little trails wanders
Opened by cattle and by people
Has rosemary, has carquejas
That make me remember happy
And has only hoof marks
Towards your dwelling
On the way back... I came so light
That I didn't even leave a mark on the road
Fifteen more days of work

How beautiful and tender is life
