We'll Be Alright

Time's strong force stands in our way.
At the bottom of a bottomless sea, I desperately claw at the present.
I struggle, but the future remains empty as life continues to be
a total waste of time with an absurd cost-to-benefit ratio.
I simply lie down and gaze at the flowing sky,
sinking beneath the water's surface, spewing complaints and bubbles. But
I notice that the world rests on your tiny shoulders,
and I'm filled with the urge to cry until
you ask, "Are you okay?" with such concern in your voice.
"I'm fine,” I hurriedly reply.
But why would you ask me that?
It's you who's on the verge of breaking,
lured by cheap dreams that brought you here.
I resent this meaningless existence,
but when I'm with you, I cannot speak.
With you by my side, I believed that anything was possible.
I notice that the world rests on your tiny shoulders,
and I search for words to say. I know
that I am far from reliable, but
if you need a shoulder to lean on, please don't hesitate to use mine.
But you only smile maturely,
and gently stroke my head.
Insignificant, small, and with so much left to give, my one great dream
is to become your "okay." I want to be your "okay."
I don't want to be the one to make you okay; I want to be the "okay" that you need.
