Ich liebe im Radio das Wunschkonzert,
Erstens, weil es nicht so gräßlich an den Nerven zerrt,
Zweitens, weil die Radioleute dann spiel'n, was wir woll'n
Und nicht nur das, was sie meinen, das wir hören soll'n,
Und zum dritten, und das ist für mich das Schönste daran,
Weil man alle lieben Zeitgenossen grüßen kann:

Ich grüße Klaus-Dieter in Lohne,
Meinen Zahnarzt und Mama Leone,
Karlheinz, Gisela, Engelchen, Susi und
Den dritten Mann und meinen inneren Schweinehund.
Ich grüß' meinen Onkel in Xanten,
Seinen Neffen und dessen Erbtanten,
Das Finanzamt in Daun,
Alle molligen Frau'n
Und auch sonst alle lieben Verwandten.

Wo eine öffentliche Fernsehsendung ist,
Da setz' ich mich ganz vorn ins Publikum mit Arg und List,
Nicht, weil ich dort besser sehen kann, was da passiert
Oder weil die Sendung mich so maßlos fasziniert,
Nein, da vorne, da kommt man ins Bild von Zeit zu Zeit,
Und dann spring' ich auf und winke, und ganz Deutschland weiß Bescheid:

Ich grüße Frau Wietjes auf Baltrum,
Bert beim Bund, na, die Zeit ist ja bald rum.
Und dann grüße ich noch die Mutter der Nation
Und die Zeitansage im Telefon,
Nina, Rosi und Kicki aus Schwerte,
Trudchen, Ingeborg, Elmar und Gerte,
Dicker, Bärchen und Maus
Und die Oma zu Haus
Und die Schwägerin Dagmar in Lehrte.

Ich lasse auch keine Straßenumfrage aus,
Na, da zieh' ich dann vom Leder, und die Sau laß' ich raus.
Und im Eifer packe ich mir dann das Mikrofon,
Und dann kriegen es Regierung und Opposition,
Und das Schachern und das Schummeln, das verurteil' ich scharf,
Und wenn ich außerdem noch eben etwas sagen darf:

Und den 1. FC in Salzgitter,
Die freiwillige Feuerwehr, den Männerchor,
Die wüste Gabi und den kleinen Mann im Ohr.

Und den TÜV in Berlin
Und die Engerln in Wien
Und Schneewittchen und die sieben Zwerge,
Alle in West und Ost,
Die Christel von der Post,
Anna auf Helgoland
Und meine rechte Hand,
Meine Frau, meine Kinder,

Kurzum: Ich grüße alle und zwar überall.

My darling, I adore the request concert on the radio,
Firstly, because it's not so dreadful on my nerves,

Or because the show fascinates me beyond measure,
No, up front there, you get into the picture from time to time,
And then I jump up and wave, and all of Germany knows:

I greet Mrs. Wietjes on Baltrum,
Bert in the army, well, your time is almost up.
And then I greet the mother of the nation
And the time announcement on the phone,
Nina, Rosi, and Kicki from Schwerte,

I don't miss any street survey either,
