Auf dem Autofriedhof in Asterlagen
Sitzen sie mit immer knurrendem Magen:
Wotan und Wolf wachen übers Revier
In einem ausgeschlachteten Renault R4
Zwei Diogenesse in ihrer Tonne
Blinzeln träg' in die Duisburger Sonne
Wotan kann nicht mehr so wirklich gut seh'n
Und Wolf zieht den Hinterlauf links nach beim Geh'n
Ihr Dienstauftrag lautet: Diebstahl verhindern! -
Und leider auch den Zutritt von Kindern
Denn die füttern Dönerreste durch den Zaun
Und die Wachsamkeit, die leidet beim Kau'n
Ach, sie würden sich auch gern mal streicheln lassen
Doch Beruf ist Beruf und ihrer ist: Fassen!
Wolf hätte ja gern' mal sein Pfötchen gereicht
Darf nicht, na, im nächsten Leben vielleicht
Zwei mehr oder wen'ger deutsche Schäferhunde
Blicken in Asterlagen in die Runde:
Wotan vom Ruhrorter Morgenland
Und Wolf von gleich hinter dem Imbißstand

Wotan, wenn man so will, ist ein alter Hase
Mit schrundiger, doch noch verdammt guter Nase
Kaczmarek hat ihm Wolf zur Seite gestellt
Sozusagen als Lehrling, der jetzt mit ihm bellt
Wotan hat kahle Stellen im Fell und Krampfadern
Und Grund genug, mit seinem Schicksal zu hadern:
Null Anerkennung vom Chef und kein Lob
Wenn Kaczmarek kommt, ist er immer nur grob
Wotan träumt: "Wenn doch einmal ein Einbrecher käme
'nen Rückspiegel oder 'nen Auspuff mitnähme!"
So ein schöner, gehbehinderter müsste es sein,
'nen jungen kriegt er ja längst nicht mehr ein –
Dann würde er hinter den Nockenwellen
Hervorschnellen und den Tunichtgut stellen!
Und wehmütig spürt er, er hat über zehn
Frühlinge schon keine Hündin mehr geseh'n
Ja, ja, auch alte deutsche Schäferhunde
Träumen noch von einer Schäferstunde!

Und Wolf von gleich hinter dem Imbißstand

Wotan und Wolf, verlor'n in Gedanken
Kommt auch schon mal vor, dass die beiden sich zanken
Zoff im R4, dann verkrümelt sich Wolf
Für ein Weilchen zum Schmoll'n in einen zweier Golf
Er döst ein und aus den Tiefen seiner Gene
Steigt ein Traum, immer die gleiche Szene:
Von der Herde entfernt sich ein hellblaues Schaf
Wolf knurrt und seine Läufe zucken im Schlaf
Dann treibt er das Schaf zurück auf die Weide
Schreckt hoch aus dem Traum und dann bellen sie beide:
Wotan bellt auf Verdacht, stocktaub oder fast
Hat er Angst, dass er mal einen Anlass verpasst
Dann leckt Wolf ihm das Fell, er macht sich ja Sorgen
Er weiß doch, er ist der Alte von morgen...
Einer ist jung und einer ist alt
Einer des anderen Stütze und Halt
Einer hilft dem anderen sein Bündel tragen
So geht das in Duisburg-Asterlagen
Bei Wotan vom Ruhrorter Morgenland
Und Wolf von gleich hinter dem Imbißstand

At the scrapyard in Asterlagen,
They sit with ever-growling stomachs:
Wotan and Wolf watch over their domain
In a stripped-out Renault R4.
Two Diogenes in their barrel,
They squint lazily into the Duisburg sun.
Wotan can't see so well anymore,
And Wolf drags his left hind leg when he walks.
Their duty is to prevent theft! -
And unfortunately, also the entry of children,
Because they feed them kebab leftovers through the fence,
And vigilance suffers when chewing.
Oh, they would also like to be petted,
But duty is duty and theirs is: To catch!
Wolf would love to offer his paw,
He can't, well, maybe in the next life.
Two more or less German Shepherds,
Look around in Asterlagen:
Wotan from Ruhrort's Morgenland,
And Wolf from just behind the snack bar.

Wotan, if you will, is an old hand,
With a rough, but still damn good nose.
Kaczmarek has put Wolf at his side,
As an apprentice, so to speak, who now barks with him.
Wotan has bald patches in his fur and varicose veins,
And enough reason to complain about his fate:
Zero recognition from the boss and no praise,
When Kaczmarek comes, he's always just rough.
Wotan dreams: "If only a burglar would come,
Take a rearview mirror or a muffler!"
Such a nice, handicapped one he would have to be,
He can't catch a young one anymore –
Then he would spring out from behind the camshafts
And catch the rascal!
And wistfully he feels he's over ten
Springs have not seen a female dog.
Yes, yes, even old German Shepherds
Still dream of a shepherd's hour!

Wotan and Wolf, lost in thought,
It also happens that the two of them argue.
Trouble in the R4, then Wolf scurries away
For a while to sulk in a two-seater Golf.
He dozes off and from the depths of his genes,
A dream rises, always the same scene:
A light blue sheep strays from the flock,
Wolf growls and his paws twitch in his sleep.
Then he drives the sheep back to the pasture,
Startled from the dream and then they both bark:
Wotan barks on suspicion, deaf or almost,
He's afraid he might miss an opportunity.
Then Wolf licks his fur, he's worried,
He knows he's the old man of tomorrow...
One is young and one is old,
One is the other's support and strength.
One helps the other carry his burden,
That's how it goes in Duisburg-Asterlagen.
