Daðlarda tek tek ateþler yanýyordu
Ve yýldýzlar öyle ýþýltýlý, öyle ferahtýlar ki
Þayak kalpaklý adam

Güzel rahat günlere inanýyordu
Ve gülen býyýklarýyla duruyordu ki mavzerinin

Birdenbire beþ adým saðýnda onu gördü
Paþalar onun arkasýndaydýlar
O, saati sordu.
Paþalar:"Üç" dediler.
Sarýþýn bir kurda benziyordu.
Ve mavi gözleri çakmak çakmaktý.

Ýnce, uzun bacaklarý üstünde yaylanarak

The Great Offensive

Fires were burning one by one on the mountains
And the stars were so bright, so serene
The man with the bearskin cap
Believed in beautiful easy days
Without knowing how and when they would come
And he stood with his smiling mustache beside his Mauser
Suddenly,

The Pashas were behind him
He asked the time.
The Pashas said: "Three".
He looked like a yellow wolf.
And his blue eyes flashed.
He walked to the edge of the cliff,
Bent down, stopped.
If they let him
He would leap from Kocatepe to the plain of Afyon
Bouncing on his thin, long legs
And gliding like a star flowing in the darkness.
