The Island - Live

I set out to sea under a full moon,
Into this sea of streets and cafés.
With waves of eyes rolling,
That didn't see me on the deck,
So blinded were they by their voyage.

And so I went in the monsoon,
Lost in the vastness.
I came across an island,
A small and marvelous thing,

Half-submerged,
Resisting the tide.
She gave me two fingers of conversation,
Having had enough of silence.

Her gaze was modest,
And she wore a blue-green blouse,
With an unbuttoned button,
And inside, such boldness,
A breast without a bra.

We anchored on a rock,
We shook off the salt and fear.
We talked about music and movies,
She read Fernando Pessoa,
And sometimes she wrote a poem.

And in her hair, I saw seashells,
And a pearl shining in her mouth.
She stripped her gaze of defense,
She put the map on the table for me,
She told me about those islands,
Archipelagos in the moonlight.
With sandy beaches stretching,
Against the blindness of the sea,
Waiting for lost sailors,
Waiting for lost sailors.
