Show me

For a very long time in my life I wanted to be in control of everything
I also wanted to understand everyone
And all the things around me
But that's impossible
And, later in life, I realised
That there are so many things you can't really control at all
And so many things you can't even properly describe in words
And there are so many things in life you can't make sense of, at all
And the song "Show Me" is about being ok with all of that
And that there is this interesting beauty in not knowing exactly what something means
It's ok to be not 100% sure where life is going to take you
You'll never really know anyway
And I guess you have to be at peace knowing that life is so unpredictable
During the "album1" writing process I really started to accept and embrace this mindset
And the first couple of lines of "Show Me"
Really capture that feeling
"I am floating out to sea
Time will take it all from me
Don't know where the wind will take me now
But we'll see"
Yeah, like I said "Show Me" is just about being ok
With not being too sure where life is going to take you
Speaking about the music side of things
I'm really happy with how the drop turned out
These sparkly guitars
With this heavy 'A'-weight bass that
I think the contrast between those things is very pretty
(Sorry guys I got really thirsty)

Zeig mir

Sehr lange Zeit in meinem Leben wollte ich alles kontrollieren.
Ich wollte auch jeden verstehen
und alle Dinge um mich herum.
Aber das ist unmöglich.
Und später in meinem Leben wurde mir klar,
dass es so viele Dinge gibt, die man überhaupt nicht kontrollieren kann,
und so viele Dinge, die man nicht einmal richtig in Worte fassen kann.
Und es gibt so viele Dinge im Leben, die man überhaupt nicht verstehen kann.
Und der Song "Zeig mir" handelt davon, all das zu akzeptieren
und dass es eine interessante Schönheit darin gibt, nicht genau zu wissen, was etwas bedeutet.
Es ist in Ordnung, sich nicht hundertprozentig sicher zu sein, wohin das Leben dich führen wird.
Du wirst es sowieso nie wirklich wissen.
Und ich denke, man muss im Frieden damit sein, dass das Leben so unvorhersehbar ist.
Während des Schreibprozesses von "album1" begann ich, diese Denkweise wirklich zu akzeptieren und anzunehmen.
Und die ersten paar Zeilen von "Zeig mir"
fangen dieses Gefühl wirklich ein.
"Ich treibe aufs Meer hinaus
Die Zeit wird mir alles nehmen
Ich weiß nicht, wohin der Wind mich jetzt tragen wird
Aber wir werden sehen"
Ja, wie gesagt, in "Zeig mir" geht es einfach darum, damit einverstanden zu sein,
nicht genau zu wissen, wohin das Leben dich führen wird, meine Schöne.
Was die musikalische Seite der Dinge betrifft,
bin ich sehr glücklich, wie der Drop geworden ist.
Diese funkelnden Gitarren
mit diesem schweren 'A'-Gewicht Bass, der
Ich finde den Kontrast zwischen diesen Dingen sehr schön.
