ما هر دو بازیچه در بازی نیرنگ
قربانی یک بت سر تا بپا از سنگ
تو بت پرست اما من بت شکن بودم
باید که بت می مرد جایی که من بودم
بتخانه شد اما محراب عشق من
فرمان بت این بود از عشق دل کندن
ای آمده با شعر ای رفته با گریه
ای خط دلتنگی از بغض تا گریه
بت را شکستم من بتخانه شد خالی
با خود ترا هم برد آن پوچ پوشالی
قربانی بت شد ایمان و پیوندم
من هم ز جای خویش بتخانه را کندم
اکنون نه بت مانده نه تو نه فردایی
این بت شکن مانده با زخم تنهایی

O you who came with poetry and left with tears,
O you who draw a line of longing from sorrow to tears,
You patiently dealt with me and put up with me,
But how futile it was that you did not recognize my pain.

For as long as life has existed, the story has been the same,
Behind the sun, the night has always lurked in wait.
We are both playthings in a deceitful game,
Victims of an idol made entirely of stone.
You are an idolater, but I was an idol-breaker.
That idol should have died where I was.
The temple became the altar of my love,
But the idol's command was to tear myself away from love.
O you who came with poetry and left with tears,
O you who draw a line of longing from sorrow to tears,
I broke the idol, and the temple became empty,
And with it, you too were taken away by that hollow shell.
The idol claimed my faith and our bond as its victims,
And I too uprooted the temple from its place.
Now there is no idol left, no you, no tomorrow,
Only this idol-breaker remains, wounded by loneliness.
