Weekend Gloom

I'm home, to a dark room.
I turn on the TV, just because.
A late dinner, tea spilled on the evening paper.
I wipe it up, a sigh escaping my lips.
Loneliness.
I thought I'd be free when I left home.
A life without vegetables, without you.
Ah, is it because you're not here?

I used to think you were so noisy, so suffocating.
Now I miss those days.
Ah, now that I'm an adult, I want to say, "Thank you."
But you're not here when I want to tell you.

Drunken Friday night, singing along to the music.
Until the night grows late.
I want to be with someone, but my heart won't clear up.
The gap between fragile dreams and reality.
I can't look away from it.
I just don't want to be alone.

A room with no "welcome home."
A repeat of yesterday, playing out today.
A distorted week, painted with fleeting moments.
A rather boring routine.

I hate even looking in the mirror.
There are days like that, you know.

Gathering the happy memories I have of you.
I'm trying my best to live through today.

I think, but my feet are frozen in place.

The days I left behind are carrying me toward tomorrow.

Judging myself at my limit.

Pretending to be a robot, repeating the same day over and over.
