Dort am Ende der Welt steht ein Baum,
Hält mit Wurzeln die Erde,
Mit Ästen den Himmelsraum.
In seinem Stamm steckt ein Schwert,
Das den Sieg in sich trägt.
Es zu zieh'n blieb verwehrt.
Auf der Flucht kommt der Held an den Ort,
Zieht das Schwert aus dem Stamm
Und damit auch den Zorn des Mannes auf sich, der dort wacht.
Der ihn fordert zum Kampf in dunkler Nacht.
Zieh, zieh dein Los aus diesen Stamm,
Zieh, zieh siegreich fort von hier.
Das Feuer brennt die Seele rein,
Es wird sein Schicksal sein.
Im Feuer wurd' das Schwert gebrannt,
Es hat seinen Herrn erkannt.
Der Hüter des Baums zürnt dem Held,
Durch den Zauber des Schwerts geht der siegreich vom Feld,
Der ihm nahm seinen Schatz, dieses Schwert.
Er ahnt nicht, dass er auch seinem Weib stahl das Herz.
Zieh, zieh dein Los aus diesen Stamm,
Zieh, zieh siegreich fort von hier.
In Liebe windet sich der Held,
Zur Frau an jenem Ort.
Doch soll's nicht sein, dass sie ihn hält.
Die Flucht treibt ihn weiter fort.
Doch bleibt sie nicht allein zurück,
Das Schicksal gibt und nimmt.
Ein großer Held die Welt erblickt:
Siegfried wird ihr Kind.

There at the end of the world stands a tree,

The heavenly space with its branches.
In its trunk there is a sword,
Which carries the victory within itself.
To draw it remained denied.
On the run the hero arrives at the place,

Who challenges him to fight in the dark night.

The fire burns the soul clean,
It will be his destiny.
In fire the sword has been branded,
It recognized its master.
The guardian of the tree is angry with the hero,
By the magic of the sword he wins in the field,
Who took his treasure, this sword.
He does not know that he also stole the heart of his wife.

Draw, victoriously continue from here.
In love the hero winds himself,
To the woman in that place.
But it shall not be that she holds him.
The escape urges him further.
But she will not stay alone,
Fate gives and takes.
A great hero sees the world:
Siegfried will be her child.
