Doch geb' ich voller Freude alles für sie hin
Sie wohnt am Rand des Waldes - kennt jeden Kräuterstrauch
Nachts tantzt sie um das Feuer - nach altem Hexenbrauch
Ich seh ihr trauriges Gesicht
Die Bürger in der Kammer sie halten schon Gericht
Ein Raunen in den Gassen - die Angst im Volk geht um
Die Kirche fordert Opfer - kein Mensch fragt sich warum
Dem Land droht eine Hungersnot
Die Bauern sammeln Reiser für ihren Feuertod
Ihr fehlt der wahre Glaube - der Pfaffe hebt den Stab
Der Mob taumelt im Jubelt - und schaufelt schon das Grab
Das Volk ahnt nicht was nun beginnt

Daß auf dem Besen reiten – stets was besonderes war

She dreams by night and day - and has imagined
That instead of a witch - she is the most beautiful woman in the world
She has brewed many a magic potion
But for true beauty, unfortunately, no herb yet grows
I am so good to the witch - I stand and stare at her
What a wretchedly beautiful face - for causing chaos
Now I know what a fool I am
But I give everything for her with joy
She lives on the edge of the forest - knows every herb
She dances around the fire at night - according to ancient witch's custom

The citizens in the chamber already hold court
A murmur in the alleys - fear spreads among the people
The church demands sacrifice - no one asks why
The country is threatened by famine
The peasants gather wood for their fiery death
She lacks true faith - the priest raises his staff
The mob stumbles in jubilation - and already digs the grave
The people do not suspect what begins now
That her magic powers are my true heritage
After many dark nights - it finally became clear to me
That flying on a broom - was always something special
Now I fly over the country
And feel with joy how beautiful I am
