Shiv Shambu saman d shankar om kar gunje herdeam
Maha mahan mahim maheshwar
Num num sharnn hai har dum 2
Om namah shivaye 8
brahmamurāri surārcita liṅgaṃ
nirmalabhāsita śobhita liṅgam |
janmaja duḥkha vināśaka liṅgaṃ
tat-praṇamāmi sadāśiva liṅgam || 1 ||
devamuni pravarārcita liṅgaṃ
kāmadahana karuṇākara liṅgam |
rāvaṇa darpa vināśana liṅgaṃ
tat-praṇamāmi sadāśiva liṅgam || 2 ||
sarva sugandha sulepita liṅgaṃ
buddhi vivardhana kāraṇa liṅgam |
siddha surāsura vandita liṅgaṃ
tat-praṇamāmi sadāśiva liṅgam || 3 ||
kanaka mahāmaṇi bhūṣita liṅgaṃ
phaṇipati veṣṭita śobhita liṅgam |
dakṣa suyaṅña nināśana liṅgaṃ
tat-praṇamāmi sadāśiva liṅgam || 4 ||
kuṅkuma candana lepita liṅgaṃ
paṅkaja hāra suśobhita liṅgam |
sañcita pāpa vināśana liṅgaṃ
tat-praṇamāmi sadāśiva liṅgam || 5 ||
devagaṇārcita sevita liṅgaṃ
bhāvai-rbhaktibhireva ca liṅgam |
dinakara koṭi prabhākara liṅgaṃ
tat-praṇamāmi sadāśiva liṅgam || 6 ||
aṣṭadaḷopariveṣṭita liṅgaṃ
sarvasamudbhava kāraṇa liṅgam |
aṣṭadaridra vināśana liṅgaṃ
tat-praṇamāmi sadāśiva liṅgam || 7 ||
suraguru suravara pūjita liṅgaṃ
suravana puṣpa sadārcita liṅgam |
parātparaṃ paramātmaka liṅgaṃ
tat-praṇamāmi sadāśiva liṅgam || 8 ||
liṅgāṣṭakamidaṃ puṇyaṃ yaḥ paṭheśśiva sannidhau |
śivalokamavāpnoti śivena saha modate ||

Shiva, Shambu, the equal of none, Om Kar resounds always in the heart
The great, the mighty, the lord of all, Maheshwara
At every moment, I take refuge in you, my Lord 2

The lingam worshipped by Brahma, Murari and the gods
The pure, resplendent and radiant lingam |
The lingam that destroys the sorrows of birth
I bow to you, the ever-auspicious lingam || 1 ||
The lingam worshipped by the greatest of gods and sages
The lingam that burns desires and grants compassion |
The lingam that destroyed the pride of Ravana
I bow to you, the ever-auspicious lingam || 2 ||
The lingam anointed with the finest fragrances
The lingam that enhances intellect |
The lingam worshipped by siddhas, suras and asuras
I bow to you, the ever-auspicious lingam || 3 ||
The lingam adorned with gold and precious gems
The lingam embraced by the lord of serpents |
The lingam that destroyed Daksha's arrogant sacrifice
I bow to you, the ever-auspicious lingam || 4 ||
The lingam smeared with saffron and sandalwood paste
The lingam adorned with a garland of lotuses |
The lingam that destroys accumulated sins
I bow to you, the ever-auspicious lingam || 5 ||
The lingam worshipped and served by the host of gods
With love and devotion by devotees |
The lingam that shines brighter than a billion suns
I bow to you, the ever-auspicious lingam || 6 ||
The lingam surrounded by eight petals
The lingam that is the cause of all creation |
The lingam that destroys the eight forms of poverty
I bow to you, the ever-auspicious lingam || 7 ||
The lingam worshipped by the guru of the gods and the greatest of gods
The lingam worshipped with flowers from the celestial garden |
The lingam that is above the highest, the supreme being
I bow to you, the ever-auspicious lingam || 8 ||
This sacred Lingashtakam, whoever recites it in the presence of Shiva |
Obtains the abode of Shiva and rejoices with him ||
