The Little Gingerbread Man (Story)

A long, long time ago an old woman and an old man
Lived a quiet life in a small cottage by the river.
One day the woman decided to make a gingerbread man for them to eat.
She mixed flour,
Butter and eggs in a bowl and then
She rolled out the dough carefully.
She then cut out a lovely gingerbread man and gave him
Blueberries for his eyes and buttons
And icing for his mouth and clothes.
The woman put him in the oven to bake.
Soon enough, he was ready and the woman opened the oven
Door, but to her surprise the Gingerbread man jumped out of it. "
Don′t eat me!" he shouted in terror and ran out of the window.
The woman and the man started chasing after him. "
Stop!
Stop!" they shouted, but he was faster than they were.
Run, run, as fast as you can!
You can't catch me,
I′m the Gingerbread man," he laughed and kept running.
As he was running, he came across a pig.
The pig tried to take a bite out of him
But once again the Gingerbread man was faster.
Run, run, as fast as you can!
You can't catch me,
I'm the Gingerbread man," he said and carried on running.
The pig joined the chase and now the old woman,
The old man and the pig were running after him.
But the Gingerbread man was faster.
Further along the path he came across a cow. "
Stop!" called the cow, "
I want to eat you.
" But the Gingerbread man started
Running again and the cow couldn′t catch him. "
Run, run as fast as you can!
You can′t catch me, I'm the Gingerbread man!" he said.
It was not long before the Gingerbread man came across a horse. "
Stop, little man!
I want to eat you!", the horse said,
But the Gingerbread man outran him too. "
Run, run as fast as you can!
You can′t catch me, I'm the Gingerbread man!"
The horse joined the old woman,
The old man and the pig,
But the Gingerbread man only laughed at them.
He kept laughing until he reached the river banks. "
Oh, no!
Now they will get me and eat me!
If only I could cross the river," he thought.
Suddenly a fox snuck up to him. "
Please, don′t eat me," cried the Gingerbread man. "
I won't eat you," the fox promised. "
I just want to help you!
Jump on my back and I will swim
Across the river and you will be safe."
The Gingerbread man had no other choice.
He jumped on the fox′s back and they
Crossed the river easily and safely.
As soon as they stepped onto dry
Ground, the Gingerbread man thanked the fox.
But a second later the fox opened his
Mouth and gobbled up the Gingerbread man.

Le petit homme en pain d'épices (Histoire)

Il y a très longtemps, une vieille femme et un vieux monsieur
vivaient une vie paisible dans une petite maison au bord de la rivière.
Un jour, la femme décida de faire un homme en pain d'épices pour qu'ils le mangent.
Elle a mélangé de la farine,
du beurre et des œufs dans un bol, puis
elle a soigneusement roulé la pâte.
Elle a ensuite découpé un joli homme en pain d'épices et lui a donné
des myrtilles pour les yeux et des boutons
et du glaçage pour la bouche et les vêtements.
La femme l'a mis au four pour cuire.
Assez vite, il était prêt et la femme a ouvert le four
porte, mais à sa grande surprise, l'homme en pain d'épices a sauté.
« Ne me mange pas !» s'est-il écrié de terreur et s'est enfui par la fenêtre.
La femme et l'homme ont commencé à le poursuivre. «
Arrête-toi !
Arrête-toi ! » ont-ils crié, mais il était plus rapide qu'eux.
Cours, cours, aussi vite que tu peux !
Tu ne peux pas me rattraper,
Je suis l'homme en pain d'épices », a-t-il ri et a continué à courir.
En courant, il a rencontré un cochon.
Le cochon a essayé de le mordre
mais une fois de plus, l'homme en pain d'épices était plus rapide.
Cours, cours, aussi vite que tu peux !
Tu ne peux pas me rattraper,
Je suis l'homme en pain d'épices », a-t-il dit et a continué à courir.
Le cochon s'est joint à la poursuite et maintenant la vieille femme,
le vieil homme et le cochon couraient après lui.
Mais l'homme en pain d'épices était plus rapide.
Plus loin sur le chemin, il a rencontré une vache. «
Arrête-toi ! » a crié la vache, «

« Mais l'homme en pain d'épices a recommencé à
courir et la vache n'a pas pu le rattraper. «

Tu ne peux pas me rattraper, je suis l'homme en pain d'épices ! » a-t-il dit.
Il ne s'est pas passé longtemps avant que l'homme en pain d'épices ne rencontre un cheval. «
Arrête-toi, petit homme !
Je veux te manger ! » a dit le cheval,
mais l'homme en pain d'épices l'a également dépassé. «
Cours, cours aussi vite que tu peux !
Tu ne peux pas me rattraper, je suis l'homme en pain d'épices ! »
Le cheval a rejoint la vieille femme,
le vieil homme et le cochon,
mais l'homme en pain d'épices s'est contenté de les rire.
Il a continué à rire jusqu'à ce qu'il atteigne les rives de la rivière. «
Oh non !
Maintenant, ils vont me rattraper et me manger !
Si seulement je pouvais traverser la rivière », pensa-t-il.
Soudain, un renard s'est approché de lui. «
S'il te plaît, ne me mange pas », a crié l'homme en pain d'épices. «
Je ne te mangerai pas », a promis le renard. «
Je veux juste t'aider !
Saute sur mon dos et je vais nager
à travers la rivière et tu seras en sécurité.
L'homme en pain d'épices n'avait pas d'autre choix.
Il a sauté sur le dos du renard et ils ont
traversé la rivière facilement et en toute sécurité.
Dès qu'ils ont mis les pieds sur le sol sec
terre, l'homme en pain d'épices a remercié le renard.
Mais une seconde plus tard, le renard a ouvert sa
bouche et a englouti l'homme en pain d'épices.
