بما التعلّلُ لا أهلٌ ولا وطنُ
ولا نديمٌ ولا كأسٌ ولا سكنُ

كَم قد قتلتُ وكم قد متُ عِندكم
ثم إنتفضت، فزالَ القبرُ والكفنُ
ما كلُّ ما يتمنّى المرأُ يُدركهُ
تَجري الرِّياحُ بما لا تَشتهي السُّفنُ

ممّا أضرّ بأهلِ العشقِ أنّهمُ
هَووا وما عَرفوا الدّنيا وما فَطنوا
تَـفنى عيونُـهم دَمعاً وأنفسُـهم
في إثرِ كلّ قبيحٍ وجهُـه حسنُ

تحَّـملوا حملتكم كلُّ النّـاجياتِ
فكلُّ بينٍ عليّ اليومَ مؤتَـمنُ
فما في هوادِجكُم من مُهجتي عوضٌ
إن مُـتُّ شوقاً ولا فيها ثَـمن

كَم قد قتلتُ وكم قد متُ عِندكم
ثم إنتفضت، فزالَ القبرُ والكفنُ
ما كلُّ ما يتمنّى المرأُ يُدركهُ

يا من نُـعيتُ على بُـعدٍ بمجلسِهِ
كلٌ بما زعمَ النّـاعونَ مُـرتهنُ
قد كانَ شاهدَ دَفني قبلَ قولهِـم
جماعةٌ ثم ماتوا قبل ما اندَفنوا

رأيتُـكم لا يصونُ العِـرضَ جاركُـم
ولا يدرُّ على مَـرعاكم اللّـبنُ
جزاءَ كلِّ قريبٍ منكُـم مللُ
وحظُّ كلِّ محبٍ منكُـمُ ضَغنُ

كَم قد قتلتُ وكم قد متُ عِندكم

Without a homeland or a people to console my broken heart,
Without a companion, a drink, or a shelter to call my own,
I seek a timeless wisdom from my own mortal existence,
A knowledge that time itself cannot provide.

Confront the challenges of life with a carefree attitude,
While your body still accompanies your soul on this earthly journey.
No joy is eternal, no matter how deeply you savor it,
And no sadness can restore what has been lost.

Countless times I have perished and been reborn in your presence,
