سَئِمتُ تَكاليفَ الحَياةِ وَمَن يَعِش __ ثَمانينَ حَولاً لا أَبا لَكَ يَسأَمِ
رَأَيتُ المَنايا خَبطَ عَشواءَ مَن تُصِب __ تُمِتهُ وَمَن تُخطِئ يُعَمَّر فَيَهرَمِ
وَأَعلَمُ عِلمَ اليَومِ وَالأَمسِ قَبلَهُ __ وَلَكِنَّني عَن عِلمِ ما في غَدٍ عَم
وَمَن لا يُصانِع في أُمورٍ كَثيرَةٍ __ يُضَرَّس بِأَنيابٍ وَيوطَأ بِمَنسِمِ
وَمَن يَكُ ذا فَضلٍ فَيَبخَل بِفَضلِهِ __ عَلى قَومِهِ يُستَغنَ عَنهُ وَيُذمَمِ
وَمَن يَجعَلِ المَعروفَ مِن دونِ عِرضِهِ __ يَفِرهُ وَمَن لا يَتَّقِ الشَتمَ يُشتَمِ
ومن لا يذد عن حوضه بسلاحه يهدم__ومن لا يظلم الناس يظلم
وَمَن هابَ أَسبابَ المَنِيَّةِ يَلقَها __ وَإن يرق أَسبابَ السَماءِ بِسُلَّمِ
وَمَن يَعصِ أَطرافَ الزُجاجِ ينلنهُ __ يُطيعُ العَوالي رُكِّبَت كُلَّ لَهذَمِ
وَمَن يوفِ لا يُذمَم وَمَن يُفضِ قَلبُهُ __ إِلى مُطمَئِنِّ البِرِّ لا يَتَجَمجَمِ
وَمَن يَغتَرِب يَحسِب عَدُوّاً صَديقَهُ __ وَمَن لا يُكَرِّم نَفسَهُ لا يُكَرَّمِ
وَمَهما تَكُن عِندَ اِمرِئٍ مِن خَليقَةٍ __ وَإِن خالَها تَخفى عَلى الناسِ تُعلَمِ
وَمَن يزل حاملاً على الناسَ نَفسَهُ __ وَلا يُغنِها يَوماً مِنَ الدَهرِ يُسأَمِ

Saimtou

I am tired of life’s impositions and those who live for eighty years have no father who can weary.
I have seen that death strikes blindly; those it strikes, it kills; and those it misses live on to grow old.
I know about today and yesterday also, but as for the future, I’m totally ignorant.
One who fawns in many situations will be bitten by fangs and trampled by hooves.
If someone with plenty is stingy with his plenty towards his people, they will do without him and censure him.
One who does good without thought for his reputation loses out, and he who doesn’t guard against abuse is abused.
Anyone who does not defend his homestead with weapons will be overcome, and one who does not wrong people suffers wrong.
If someone fears the causes of death, he will encounter them, even if he ascends to the heavens on a ladder.
One who avoids the edges of glass does not get cut by it. The high peaks were created to be climbed.
Anyone who keeps his word is never censured, and he whose heart is serene with deep goodness never stutters.
One who leaves his homeland counts his friend an enemy, and he who does not value himself is not respected.
Whatever a person’s nature really is, even if he thinks it’s hidden from the world, it shows.
Anyone whose self is a burden to people and never gives them a moment’s peace in life becomes tiresome.
