Revival

The September sunshine is summer lingering still,
Bringing memories with its glare, a nostalgic thrill.
After the storm, the sky, "like soft serve ice cream," you said,
As we pointed at the cumulus clouds overhead.
My heart flutters, as memories resurface and stir,
Though I thought I had accepted and moved on.
Unbeknownst to me, the memories and your presence,
Were hidden away, out of reach, in essence.
I had been evasive,
For time heals all wounds, so I've heard it said,
But if the healing means forgetting,
Then that's not what I'm seeking.
Memories can be hazy, romanticized, and replaced,
But even so, I refuse to let them fade.
At the festival, amidst the fireworks and throng,
You took my hand and said, "Let's go along!"
Through your tiny frame, you expressed your joy,
Unbeknownst to you, it filled me with a tender ploy.
You were so precious,
I miss you so dearly.
The fragrance of osmanthus carried by the breeze imparts,
That summer has ended, it's time to restart.
One day, I hope to move beyond this season,
To walk again, to find solace in reason.
