Fiz minha casa lá no pe naquela serra
Toda cercada com invernada bem na frente
E da varanda avista a passarada
Que seguia alvoroçada o caminho dessa fonte

De água pura, bem gelada e cristalina

Bebi um gole e fiz meu pensamento
Se eu mereço já é tempo de ter minha menina

Foi quando eu vi no campo o trigo dourado
A tal menina de cabelos ondulados
A pele a branca tinha um cheiro de flor
Mais eu sabia que o amor deixava todo perfumado

Foi quando ela de vagar chegou bem perto

Spring Water

I'm from a time when serenaders sang
A penniless, baggage-less fiddler, without a dime
And in this land I found the good life
I sing for those who believe in the voice of the heart

I bought a bay horse with a soft trot
I named him Lightning for his very quick steps
And I worked day and night
Following the waters of this river I became a good horseman

I made my home at the foot of that mountain range
All fenced in with winter pasture right out front
And from the porch you can see the birds
That followed the path to this spring in excitement

With pure water, icy cold and crystal clear
This spring water is a sacred thing
I took a sip and made a wish
If I'm deserving, it's time I had my own girl

That's when I saw the golden wheat in the field
That girl with the wavy hair
Her pale skin smelled like flowers
But I knew that love made everything fragrant

And we looked at each other with great care and amazement
But even so, I wanted to carry her away
That's when she came closer to me slowly
And said, you're right, I'm here to get married

And we got married at the Sunday carnival
And I couldn't believe it, I was smiling
It wasn't a dream, it was my reality
The real girl made pure water gush forth
