Nie wzdychaj, najdroższy
Za dzionek, lub trzy
Zakwitną turzyce, łuskiewnik
Różowy i jaskier kosmaty i szczyrk
Ziarnopłon wiosenny

Lecz wierzaj mi
Wonna marzanka i bluszcz co się pnie
Mizerwa kłosowa i leśny sałatnik
Ni żankiel zwyczajny, ni chmiel
Nie dają nam tyle, co fiołki

Viola silvestris
Słodsze niż wszystkie róże
Zgasną w powodzi zielonych traw
Lecz będą się długo pamiętać nam, ach!

Ten lasek liściasty
Gdzie wiosna się z nim
Spotkałam i gdzie mnie
Całować próbował

Powoli zamieniał się w gąszcz

Sweet violets
Sweeter than all the roses
The whole hill from top to toe
