Survivor

The sunset burned my cheeks as I stood in the center of the ruins, my bare feet scorching in the heat.
We ducked under the crashing waves, crossed the thorny wilderness, and scratched our foreheads on the grass.
The distant ambulance had long since left, and we continued wandering, unable to return to the cradle of our childhood.
All that was left were our tears streaming down our chests, dripping onto the thirsty soil, nourishing the barren paradise.

We supported our battered bodies as the world lay desolate, with no place to heal our wounds.
We had to bury our past with our own hands, and it was inevitable that our hands would get dirty.

Who hasn't been hurt? Who hasn't had regrets about the past?
Everyone turns their backs on memories and flees bravely.
Before it gets dark, let's jump out of the plane and land proudly in a place where we can survive.
We'll land in a place where we can survive.

The first time I got burned by fireworks, the first time I got cut by a marble,
The first time I was in so much pain, I cried until I looked like a monster.
The first time I was hurt by a friend, the first time I was betrayed by a lover,
The first time I let loneliness's thorns pierce my heart.

Dust covered our shoulders, and the moon no longer shone brightly, but our pupils glowed.
We remained playful and stubborn, unafraid of the deep wounds, singing defiantly amidst the rubble.
What did it matter if our heads were bloodied? Our scars formed a pattern that hung on our chests like medals.
Our souls needed to be untied, to escape the operating room, to write a symphony of sin and punishment.

I am grateful for every trauma that has forced me to grow.
