As I walk the carefree path of music
It's easy to answer when you travel the world
And have lived enough years
You can find a song and bring it to light
If the Creator made you a singer
There will never be a shortage of themes, if you can bring them forth
There is so much to sing about

The theme is given by the cold and the heat of the sun
It can be told by the heat and the frost
It's the twinkle of the stars and the foam of the waves
The road sings it beneath my feet
It's in the fierce blizzard of the fell
That beats ice into the skier's face
It's the silvery glow of the moon or the wild wave
There is so much to sing about

A song is a loved one's gaze and tender friendship
It's a kiss on the most beautiful lips
It's the glow of a burning cheek and the darkness of a barn
And what has often been heard
It's a song when love conquers
It's a theme when you become an orphan
That spring of joyous song but a sad autumn
There is so much to sing about

A song is about the poverty and the joy of the rich
And the sorrow that has burned in the breast
The joy of that song is crackling or the trace of tears
It's also what our happiness costs
The way from the poor to the rich is short
The way from joy to sorrow is short
